11-12-2015, 11:27 AMHoping this is the correct.place to post this.I have bought a very badly abused bike (sfm roadster) need some advice on stripping 4 layers of paint and original. Decals of the petrol tank apart from using sanding disks can anyone suggest chemical steppers they have used with success. Cheer's

I did use one I liked, but it was local brand.
My two cents: use, not liquid, but gel.Ask me nothing - I DO NOT speak english. Really...

Heat gun is much safer than sanding disk (metal may sanded away) or chemical (may corrosive the metal) . Ur local paint supplier may give u the advice of the "correct" stripper.

If it's on metal then a heavy duty chemical paint-stripping gel will have that off with no problems. Chemical stripper works very quickly so it's best to keep an eye on it and clean up the mess as soon as the paint has come away from the metal.
On plastic it would be better to use a heat gun. Once the paint has softened it can be peeled off very easily.

On plastics, I would try with brake fluid (after some testing how those two react on each other).
