#1 SSR in the US new models introduced
02-28-2016, 07:10 AM
Anyone recognize the source of any of these bikes? The first three bikes look like competition to Cleveland Cyclewerks's offerings, while the last bike looks like it competes with the Grom and the soon to be in the US Zongshen Rapido.

I do not like the “snake eyes” but that is just me…
I would rather see a standard with the GS250 engine and not with a hokey name.

I am with you on the Snake Eyes. I am not a bobber fan, and I do think a standard with those fat tires would have had a better look. The existing Pioneer model you linked to does look like the two Longjia cafe-style bikes, so I understand not offering a cafe with a single, and the bobber from CCW has quite the cult following, so from a business point-of-view, it makes sense for SSR.

I do not like the seat at all, it looks really uncomfortable.
These are better, at least you have some ability to get comfortable on the seat, the tires are actually too fat.

But they already have the two cafe racer-type bikes with the Longjia Buccaneers, which is why I see them bringing this in only as a bobber. They could/should have figured out a better seat, however!

The buccaneer comes in two colors schemes, which hardly makes them two models.
I think the STR250 “Snake Eyes”, looks unfinished, the seat particularly. Last time I felt annoyed by an impractical design was with the bobbers so these may end up being a big seller. But the bobber was an old school design, this is a custom design.
Here is a link to a large image of it, look at the seat area.
Here is link to some Custom designs highlighted on Bikeexif.com, more time should have been spent on the seat. To me the seat is minimal as in lows cost, it makes that statement to me more than anything else, wait for the price tags on these, bet they ask more than what they are worth for them.
I would like to see a straight standard with the GS250 and a CV carburetor and for them to update the colors on the XF250, they are currently ugly.
Who knows if the mad max custom will sell, it may be perceived as bad ass to some, thats not my thing though. To me its contrived and hokey, unless you welded it up yourself and it then is your one of a kind you imagined in your head…that s cool but for retail? Who know let’s see.

Seat can be changed on the Snake Eyes but I am interested in the v-twin model. I got an email back that the bikes were in testing for EPA approval.
