    Hi!

My problem is, that if I charge my 3 month old battery via a lextek battery charger/regulator, overnight it works like a charm in the bike, but as soon as I leave the bike standing for one day or so, it starts to loose power.

so dramatically, that after 2 weeks only the fuel level indicator came in, no lights no anything, and the voltage of the battery was 4.7 instead of 12.
If I leave it stand for like 2 days, then the power is usually not enough to spin the starting motor...

I charged it for 12 hours, then measured 13volts, then went out to ride like for a hour or two, left the bike standing for 2 days, then it couldnt turn the starter motor... I bump started it, went to work, (30 minutes ride) left the bike for like 8 hours... After that, bump starting it was very difficult... Only succeeded 2 times, pulled the gas for a minute or so, but as soon as I tried to set it off (switched to neutral to rev) engine went dead. Like it has only enough spark to keep it alive until I keep the throttle opened. Choke does not help.

I do now as a fact, that a freshly charged battery eliminates all these problems for me. But how comes that a freshly charged battery dies out in days?

-can you tell me, how can I check, that my charger built in the bike works ok?
-And even, where to find it on the bike? :D

-Also, if it's dead, or weak, what can I do?

-Is it possible, that the charger is ok, just something drains the battery no matter that I turn off the ignition, while it stands?
rev counter is dead since i got it, could that, or anything else drain the battery?

Im very desperate :( please help

Also, its around 5 celsius here, I know, cold, but I knew sinnis max and sinnis stealth bikes that resided outside in the SNOW, and started without a problem

    BAD rec (ref to manual http://pan.baidu.com/s/1sjqfYlZ) or use common sense | BAD stator (NORMAL = Y-Y 0.5 – 1.5 Ω | gnd- Y ∞ Ω | 60V @ 5k rpm)

Hi, I connected my multimeter in 20V range to the battery terminals, when athe bike was idling, it read around 12-13v. But no matter that I opened the throttle, and revved it higher and higher, the value shown remained the same. (as I read in Haynes, it should have went up..)

Also, with ignition off, leakage was 7.62 milliamper... When I disconnetcted the regulator, leakage was 0.00 milliamper. (bike still started)

So I ordered a new regulator and a stator just in case. I fitted the new regulator, leakage was 0.38 milliamper. imnstead of 7.62.
But as I measured the idling battery, then increased the revs slowly to the SKY, the voltage STILL doesn't changed.

(and after this test the leakage was 0.40, so I disconnected the new regulator just in case, I do not want to fry it or anything with a bad stator)

I suppose it means that I have to change the stator... I have a new replacement, so today I go for some 10W-40 motor oil,

Can you tell me what to avoid, and what to look out for while changing the stator? I know that I have to drain the oil of course, and to loosen the bolts slowly in a criss-cross manner, but how can I be sure my bike is not going to leak motor oil after?

Also, is there a possibility that my dead digital rev counter is going to work after I change the whole stator?

NEEDS "threadlock" (3 area in stator | 2 area in pick-up)

Er... I read it just now :D and already drained the oil, took apart the left crankase, installed new stator, closed it, and refilled witth new oil....

Threadlock? THAT explains why it was soooo DARN hard to remove the 3 and 2 bolts from the stator...

I did not used anything when installing the new though. Just screwed them in hard, but not overly hard.

Do you think they are going to come apart?

Also, I did not had a new gasket, and the old one is ripped in one part, well, we will see the results on the next morning... I left a napkin under it, to check it is dripping or not.
    I think it is... VERY-VERY slowly. ^^

I already ordered left and right gaskets according to your link now, but THAT means another oil change XD hell...

Haynes manual said that a 10w-50 oil is also good, and I only found that one in bike-made format in a neraby store. So I refilled it instead of the old 10w-40.

Results of the new regulator/ new stator:
    ------------------

Revving the engine STILL DO NOT modify the voltage -at all-. BUT:
When the engine is on, idling or revving, voltage shows more than 14 volts... Stable value, no matter the rpm.
as soon as I kill the engine, it slowly drops back to 12.80 volt, which is the actual level of my battery.

So: is it ok, that the voltage does not go higher than 14something, but as far as the engine is running, it stays over 14?
It means that my battery is being recharged normally?

    rec/reg output <16v IS normal...
One http://sanxin.com.cn/Exhibit/exhview.asp?pid=48 of the BiG player guarantees these:

    Regulated : 14.5 +/-0.5 | Battery open-circuit voltage: <15

    Good story:
old stator output wiring serouis f***ed, re-solder http://translate.google.com/translat...3D2&edit-text= something on it. Test time: NO spark... The truth behind IS 'bad" CDI. Luckily electronic background & pile of electronic junk SAVED the wallet ...

Why are you convinced the battery is good?

Sooo, constant 14.50 or slightly bigger while engine is running is too weak compared to the 12.80 of the battery base?
So this is not enough? O_o

I am not overly convinced. This is a new battery, 3-4 months old, Yuasa, fitting specs, filled with it's own electrolyte. Then I had an accident, electrolyte spilled and I didn't recognised that the levels went slightly under minimum until it died on me. Since it spilled, not settled in, I topped up to level with the remaining of it's own electrolite. Recharged with a lexmoto fitting charger twice since.

IF the 14.50 or so voltage while engine is running is not good, going to become weak in the coming days, or the base 12.80v level is too weak, I might try to buy a new battery.

But as I replaced with new fitting parts the complete stator and the regulator aswell, I really hope that this 14.50 is good enough
