Hi, username's Oachkatzel, I'm a 42 yo teacher (French) in Sichuan, MianYang since last September.
In France, I've been riding for 15 years, tons of Km, mostly on 600 Hornets.
I got my Chinese driving licence as soon as I could (November), bought myself a 250 CQR, rode 10000Km since, mostly in Sichuan, plus an epic ride form Chengdu to the sea near Beihai in February.
I'd like to get a 400 or 450, still motocross with road tyres (supermotard as we say in France).
I wish to get advise on bikes and roadtrips, and I guess this forum is the right place for that ...

    Hi OKL,

depending on your wallet check an SWM Supermoto, 600cc (based on former Husquarna).
SWM is now owned by Shineray and they took over the old hangars from Husky production in Italy.
I had a test ride in Beijing and liked it. But in October is the Enduro version coming to China. I wait for it.

Do you want to join me travelling around Yunnan this summer? We are leaving Shandong around June 18 and travelling through sichuan to yunnan, leaving around July 25. If there is any interest, please pm me.

Also, as more of an incentive, I'm travelling with my wife who can speak French.

Hi ShuBen, I looked at them, but it's just as if this bike didn't exist ... ? Anyway, it might be too powerful for me (or me in China, more precisely) ; but it sure looks beautiful ...

regarding the SWM bikes: yes they are very new in mainland. (but when I bought the Shineray X5 I was a Guinea pig as well :-) )

In the 250 class I would look at Yamaha YBR or QingQi alrounder bikes, maybe Benelli 251.

Hi Oachkatzel, Beside my activity as GM of a French industrial company based in Qingdao I am helping one of my friends in France who import nice 450 Enduro and Supermotard for France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain and soon Italy. The 450 is a copy of Honda CRF 2008 with aluminium perimetric frame and has been produced for almost 10 years now. It is a very good looking bike and has enough power for "normal" rider. In Europe some riders swap the Chinese carburator for a Kehin RCF to boos the engine power for enduro racing. The manufacturer name is Asiawing. I visit this company regularly to check the assembly and QC the bikes before they are put in container. I test ride several each time, the supermotard is really fun to ride. An EFI version will be available soon due to the euro 4 compliance. There is also a 250 enduro with same chassis but engine from Zongshen.
If you have interest just let me know I will provide you with all information you want. PM me.

Has Asiawing meanwhile solved the overheating problem on their 450cc?
That was quite an issue here in BJ in the summertime.

Hi ShuBen, The Asiawing 450 is an enduro bike and not really designed to ride in traffic jams. However, the overheating issue is no more. There is a fan mounted on the right side radiator that does a good job keeping the engine temperature in a normal range. In Europe several 450 race regularly enduro competition without overheating problem. For information, a rally version raced last year the Libya Rally (in Morocco in fact) without problem. It will race the same rally in April this year.
Attached some pictures of the bikes in Europe.
