    Hey guys

I recently posted a thread about a trip to 妙峰山 http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...th-Galenernest
in which i had an incident where my back tyre stepped out whilst cornering, which resulted in a crash into the guard rail.

I wasn't even going that fast... and wasn't leaning that much either.

So here's the bike, it has dual-sport tyres at the moment, and i'm thinking this is a problem because i've had a couple of incidents where it wouldn't have happened on other bikes.
This last crash was the wake up call i needed to finally change to some better road rubber.
[ i will get the specs of the tyres, that can be put on when i get home]

But also wondering about which Japanese parts can be interchanged for the Shineray?
I got a Japanese chain which made a world of difference
Other things i'd like to consider would be - front suspension
    - maybe brake pads
    -definitetly tyres

Any suggestions? or anyone interchanged these parts before?

    Thanks

This is a fairly old post. I bet you have had that bike a while now. I was looking at maybe buying this bike. What is your current opinion of this shineray model?

    Hey,

It was a fairly decent bike. Perfect for driving around Beijing actually. 250cc, mechanically fine, electrics pretty good for a chinese bike, air-cooled.
Chinese chain was shit. Tyres... as you can see, weren't that great.. Looked cool though.
I used to drive it everyday to work and back, 40 mins there, 40 mins back. Took it like a pro.
I have since sold it to a French guy that lives inside the 3rd ring road (beijing) and he thinks its great.
I would thoroughly recommend this bike, and i think so would he.
The brand new price was 9,000 rmb with plates, insurance & registration included. Honestly not bad.
plus its very nimble, and can go up and down curbs fairly easily.
Note. This is a road bike with less grippy tyres, and slightly longer travel suspension... it IS better offroad than most road bikes... but you woulnd't be able to take it to the track or anything. I think the suspension would brake.
Top speed is..around 100. I sold mine for 6,500 so if you're looking for a 2nd hand one.. i would guess it'd be around the same price. Although, there are many bought from taobao that aren't legal and can't be registered so check before.
