04-27-2009, 02:45 PMWell, I have been in China since the end of Feb, but a week ago finally got a Chinese motorcycle. Well, kinda. I am mostly above the law, but anyways.
I managed to purchase a used Suzuki GS150 motorcles. Anyone in China has seen one, as that particular model appears to be the most common type of police motorcycle, at least here in the Shanghai area.
Mine is green, has panniers and is a cruiser style. I was surprised, as I easily got it up to 95 km/h (indicated), much faster than any of the modified 200 cc scooters belonging the other staff at my school. I have added a pipe, an HID light and a much louder horn. It's really comfortable, even compared to bikes i have had back home.
Since it's legal, it's been very nice to ride around. I have even ridden it up to the 1st ring road in Shanghai (I live in Jiangsu province, just over the border from Shanghai).
So, if anyone is up for a ride in the Shanghai area, drop me a line here.

04-28-2009, 12:07 AMCool. I live in Jiangsu and want to go for a ride as soon as I get a bike. Did you buy at a second hand dealer? I have been looking around but haven't seen one around here. Let's see a picture of the bike.

Does the bike look a bit like this?Without consciousness, space and time are nothing; in reality you can take any time -- whether past or future -− as your new frame of reference. Death is a reboot that leads to all potentialities.

04-28-2009, 03:39 AMHmm. That's interesting. I have seen GN250's out here. I think the next mod will be an engine transplant.

05-12-2009, 02:22 AMWell, I figured I would update here. One of the other teachers at my school really loved my QS150 and bought it from me, as I managed to find a Honda Rebel 250 for 3500 rmb with Suzhou plates.
The good news is it's quick and the engine is strong. It has 80,000 km on the broken odometer, who knows how far it's gone really.
The bad news is that i had to get new forks, new rear suspension, 2 new tires, new exhaust, new spark plugs, new coils, new steering head bearing and a new seat. 1900 RMB at the Shanghai moto market.
The ugly news is that I still have not hunted down and killed all the electrical gremlins. I cannot believe how many shoddy repairs it's had over the years.
A brand new Regal Raptor 250 costs 10,500 RMB, so I am somewhat upsidedown now, but it's nice to have a genuine Honda.
I have managed to put about 5 tanks of gas through it, mainly running to Shanghai and Hangzhou. I live in Luxu, a town halfway between Shanghai and Suzhou on the A9.
