    Hello everyone!

A buddy of mine has 50k to spend on a bike. He wants it to be a 600 or bigger. All brands worth taking into consideration will be taken into consideration. All ideas are on the table other then smuggled bikes. Even used bikes if you know someone who has a legit one for sale. He seems to be leaning towards the sportier bikes. I think that is what he really has a passion for. He lives in Jilin province.

So, a simple questions, with your experience on Chinese roads what bike would you buy and why? Thanks in advance for taking part in this thread!

They say the Benelli is much improved. I don't know.. I have a CF scooter.. Really nice bike actually but like all Chinese manufacturers the follow up service stinks. However, After all This I'd probably recommend the CF 650 range

I don't know why people are always so obsessed with displacement, instead let's concentrate on power, maybe 30KW but maybe he's thinking of 50KW minimum. A Jialing JH600 puts out only a tiny bit more power than a Ninja 300.

There are basically only three options that make sense.

    1. Buy a 2nd hand CFMOTO 650.
    2. Buy a Kawasaki Ninja or Z300 Thai import 300cc (under budget, smaller but reliable).
    3. Buy a Thai import CB500F or Kawasaki Ninja 650 Thai import (over budget).

The reasoning is that the CFMOTOs are OK, but have a very heavy depreciation so you'd basically be throwing your money away as there are plenty for sale 2nd hand these days. The 250-300cc bikes are fun and light, and maybe some money left over unless your buddy is built like a sumo wrestler or has already spent years on smaller bikes you may find that the lightweight city handling and learning to extract every watt is good for you. The bigger bikes are ideal, but cost more.

I'd either get a Honda CBR600F or a 2nd hand CFMOTO 650, but then I have 15 years experience on Chinese roads. A newb, then maybe a Z300 or CBR300. When I first got here the biggest engine that was legally available was a 234cc 12KW (if it didn't get hot) reverse engineered Honda twin in a bag-o-shite Honda Rebel copy.

One can understand someone recommending a bike if your current bike is the SAME.
IMO the JH600 is a good bike BUT just out off date?
ok at sea level but start to gain attitude than even the 50 N/M is going to be a problem.

Need to upgrade the shocks front and back.
And need to be handy with a monkey wrench.

I would just like to point out that earlier this year I attended the Xishuangbanna JH 600 maintenance course specialising in fuel injection firmware tuning.
So I am totally qualified to own one of these.

That's why they call it a monkey wrench. Although it can be considered a man sized multi tool, able to adjust the the engine idle rpm or if necessary the attitude of errant cage pilots.
Here you can see some of Willems fine fleet of 600's at the Thai/Laos border.

After one of the tour riders crashed and had to be flown out they took my spanner off me and told me to ride the bike back to Xishuangbanna. After 1000 km I decided if it had better shocks and forks I could probably live with it.

And its Naff Said by the way ?

Mate it was.out of date when they starting building them ten years ago . So are harleys and Xr 250s but they still make them and lots of People buy them . Clocked up 20k km on mine and it runs fine . Others have dropped valves and had Troublesome efi issues . There is no best bike . Its all a matter of personal taste .

    Happy new year from Cambodia
