A few years ago, the export statistics included total value of exports in USD. Back then I would divide that total value by total units and get an average value per unit. The entire industry typically had an average unit value of an export around $675.00.
Without the value, it is difficult to determine if companies are improving or not, the decreases in industry production and exports are reflective of the fact the industry was grossly overbuilt, the falling numbers are reflective of excess production capacity.
Big movements are what, signs of turmoil or a lack of stability and sustainability.
Look at Honda, they maintain about 10% of the total industry production and are combined the second largest exporter. In that the average unit value of their exports are likely twice the average value of the industry average.
Zongshen seems to have improved its approach, they are maintaining the high-volume production models, they are developing new engines and refining and expanding offerings.
Qjiang is also notable, it expanded its exports and reduced its domestic production, the object is to supply the market, not to flood it. In that it is about establishing distribution and forecasting demand and then aligning production to meet that demand.
They are similar in that they differentiated brands, Benelli/Keeway/Qjiang and Cyclone/Zongshen.
