    Hello hello hello,

It's been a long time away from MCM, I wonder where my old bike is right now.. golden old memories. I'll be back, soon..

So I'm back home now but my wife is in China, with our little one for a short visit. Can anyone recommend a good LED headlight to put on my DR650? Many LED aren't cooled properly and won't last long because of overheating. And of course, China has everything from top to shit quality. So where better to ask than MCM

    Any info appreciated, thanks

I advise this one as H4. Its pure plug and play. NMo worries for getting too hot.
It comes as a pair. So you might be even able to share costs with someone.
I have installed it at the SWM RS500R and it works great.

ShuBen has tried and tested the LED from the link posted, Should be good stuff.

I would still recommend you fit some LED spot lights in addition to the H4 led.
The CFmoto 650 MT comes with LED main and dip bream.
    Which are JUST ok .
I also fitted 2 x 60 watt LED set bream low
    2 X 60 watt LED set high .
TOTAL watts with all the lights on is 350 watts of LED power .
Works very very well , and the volts only drops down to 13.7 V at 3000 rpm.
All my new bikes in China are fitted with 2 main addition.

    1.very very loud horn.
    2 very very bright lights.

Many times these 2 addition have saved my bacon.

    Two preventive comments:

    A) H4 is the plug type of the head light bulb and should be standard for motorcycles, but better verify it once for your bike

    B) when adding accessories keep in mind that the summary consumption of the bikes standard fitment plus accessories does not exceed the output performance of your generator to avoid damage.
I advise to check the bike specification for that figure.

I believe only Philips make legitimate (automobile headlight compliance?) LED headlight bulb which could replace incandescent bulb, but you are luck as some local company use same similar design to provide same LED light bulb (some even provide higher luminosity) for cheaper cost. But the core is using light that its beam can be dipped at oncoming traffic as it's low light filament build in tiny reflactor.

In short, use H4 (or HS1) light bulb which its low beam can be dipped. like the Philips H4 LED or similar. The other drivers would thank you for that..
p.s. HS1 is low power of H4 for motorcycle.

Any LED worth it's weight needs to have a heatsink or a fan to dissipate the heat from the LED, as LEDs to get very hot internally, and heat causes deterioration of the LED. I would not trust too many of the items obtained from Taoabao (un;less imported)... from my own vast personal experience. Yes, there are or is the odd item which surprises, but on average, most are shite IMHO. Some products are shite from the outset and easily distinguished, others are more assiduous and fool from the outset, but become obvious with a little use, others are well deceptive and embedded with trickery fooling many if not most - lasting fairly well for a sustained period of time before the veneer wears off. And as my proverb goes, in Ch!na everything is just for looking, scratch beneath the veneer/surface, for nothing is as it seems, beAware the smoke and mirrors.

OP if you really want a dependable LED option for your DR650 which will still be working when you want it to and as described on the tin, then don't play spot the 'genuine-real-will-last a-lifetime-quality-product' masquerading readily on TB, because sadly in TIC those are really genuine high quality dependable items are in reality few and far between, unless imported.. The goods might look the part, but given time the sum which is greater than the whole of its parts is let down by one of the said parts. If the product contains metals, plastics, rubber or any other inorganic materials, its bound to be made from less than the ideal. Because a jiao saved here and shaved there, will lead to the products failure, but make the company reach it's pot of gold in the short term (comes from a Chinese proverb).

Want a real quality LED light product, don't fark about with TB shite, head over to ADVRider and check out one of the threads where inmates post their lived experiences with products such as ADVMonster in this LED thread.

    As always, YMMV

I sold it to Barry here from MCM already.

... and for this product from the Tmall site I ambvery happy. I have it now several month in and it really makes the difference.
As it has this copper cooling loop stripes u should distribute them mindful for good cooling effect. It gets really hot at the spot where loops leave the housing. Therefore keep cables away that got touch that spot.
I formed a flower like loop shape that covers the hot spot. Works perfect, no problem to touch it after long ride.
