Sao Paulo, Brazil, 26 March – The Brazilian distributor of Green Motos motorcycles plans to import at least 20,000 Chinese units over the nextthree years, the company's chief executive told macauhub Tuesday in Sao Paulo.

According to Mário Zidan, sales projections for the products have already been exceeded in the first few months of activity and, in total, 1,163 motorcycles were sold in 2007.

Since June of last year, the Rodobens group company, on of the biggest vehicle retailers in Brazil, sells four models with engines ranging from 110cc to 150cc produced by Chinese manufacturer Lifan.

The motorcycles with the Green brand are manufactured in the city of Wuxi, some 200 kilometres from Shanghai.

In the first two months of the year the brand sold 750 units, totalling 1,913 motorcycles sold by the network since it first started operating in Brazil, according to its CEO.

In July 2007, the group’s first showroom was opened in Sao Jose do Rio Preto, in the interior of Sao Paulo state, in southeast Brazil, when a unit was also opened in the city of Sao Paulo.

Later, stores in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte were opened.

According to Zidan, after a year and a half of negotiations and visits to China, the Rodobens group company signed an exclusivity contract to import and sell Green branded products in Brazil.

“Even with the initial sales success, we are going to keep the objective of growing gradually, increasing volume and the number of products offered according to market receptivity," the CEO said.

Zidan said that the strategy to publicise the brand was the Rodobens 400,000 strong customer base and “the price of the vehicles, which varies between 3,400 and 5,000 reais, which are between 30 and 55 percent lower than the market average.”

As well as the vehicle sector, the Rodobens group, one of Brazil’s main conglomerates, founded in 1949, ahs interests in the real estate, banking, insurance and corporate communications sector, and has over 4,000 points of sale across the country. (macauhub)
