hi, i have a skyteam st125, and i have just bought a front 16 tooth sprocket, to replace the 14 tooth sprocket.... it should arrive in a day or two... the bike has only done 180 kms, and was wondering do i need to change the chain, or just use the chain thats on, if it has enough play in it? thanks for any help given...

If it's only one tooth you can use the same chain for sure. Plus two teeth you can also probably use the same chain but like you said, be double sure to check slack.

Two teeth added to the gearbox sprocket?. Let us know if that works OK. I feel it'll knock the edge off the performance quite a bit, specially if you're a large rider or live in hilly country.

after i took the sprocket off i found it was actually a 15 tooth, and not a 14, so it took the 16 tooth sprocket easily... i now have a first gear that is actually useful

Nice to hear it worked out with little fuss. Let us know how it changes the performance and ride after you've had some saddle time.

bike is really fun to ride now . the top speed is around the 70mph mark, so that that has not changed much, but the gears are much more useful, and seem to have a wider spread between changing. so changing the front sprocket is a must

hi carl, if you mean where am i am in England m8... but if you mean where do i go with my bike, its mostly all on the road, with a very rare blast off road.. i use it as my second bike, for short runs, and in the winter when the big bike (08 hayabusa) is having a nice sleep, lol . i have a few pics of the bike on bikepics website, http://www.bikepics.com/skyteam/st125/09/pics.asp .
