I go through a lot of tires each year and have found it rather difficult to find a reliable place to handle my tire changes. I located a very nice car shop with a high tech tire changing machine that will fit 19 inch motorcycle rims with discs. The guys did a great job mounting up the new tires without scratching the rims, but their balancer is not designed for motorcycle wheels.

I have yet to come across any motorcycle shop in southern China, with the exception of the one in the Zuhai track circuit, that has a balancer. Does anybody know where I can purchase one of these with some weight?

    Thanks

Use a piece of Bamboo stuck through the hub and level it against a counter or something. Spin the wheel lightly and let it fall. Mark the spot at the bottom and add weight above after using spit and a rag to clean the wheel where teh weight will stick.

    Spin and repeat.

Sounds crude but it's worked up to 130mph before (personally) and higher for others.

    Bamboo Balancer.... thanks CC ,

I decided to go with the Pocket Wheel Balancer from Sumomoto

I contacted Mr. Hu and he gave me a nice little discount from the $39.00 USD price. I had the balancer 48 hours later, definitely the best online shopping experience I've ever had in China. He also seems like the kind of guy that understands his products and actually cares about motorcycling and supporting the sport.

    Here's the balancer.

Materials appear to be very nice quality

    Cheers!

Well yeah you can do that too if you're all into them new-fangled technology stuffs.

Looks like a good price on a good unit though. Where you going to mount it?

China and wheel balancing? What's next, torque wrenches?

Torque wr-what? You must be talkin' some crazy talk! We don't need to fancy wrenches, just bunches of odd screws and plenty of touch welding.

Soon people will start suggesting that black tape and only a very vague understanding of what wire does what is inadequate for motorcycle electrics too!

The thread is worth a bump ChinaV
Just to show what a real machine looks like see picture below.
But be warned these Machines are rarer than Rocking Horse Shit here in China.
