After a maniac in an SUV tried repeatedly to ram me into the barriers on an expressway recently i've decided to sell my bike. I've a wife and baby and after 5 months of riding around Shanghai i've seen enough to re-evaluate things a little.

The bike is less than 6 months old and comes with the Shanghai Hu C plate. It's been well loved and looked after and still in showroom condition. It has all the usual upgrades like a HID light, loud horn, and remote alarm.

I want rid of this bike so quickly that i'll even throw in my Alpinestars racing jacket with body armour, Alpinestars gloves, a Tanked helmet, a Yuma disc lock, an extra set of body armour, and i'd be willing to accompany you to the traffic management bureau to exchange ownership and get it registered in your name. The bike, plate and gear is worth about 28,000rmb and is all less than 6 months old.

I'm selling the bike and plate together so if you don't need the plate you'll have to sell it yourself. But the value of the plate is increasing.

Really sorry to hear about your SUV mishap.

I fully understand your situation with a new wife and child - you are being a very smart & responsible father/husband. Lots of time to risk your life when you become an old fart like me.

As for your bike, this is a fantastic deal - I'd snap it up today (seriously) if it was in Beijing.

Good luck with your little one ... see ya in 20 years when it is off to college! Oh wait, you won't be able to afford a bike then ... ok, 30 years.

nice bike, i was gonna buy me one of these last year but never got round to it (picked up a cheap on instead) let me ask around and see how much a plate sells for, if its of interest to me i will pm you in a couple of days.

Shanghai traffic is a nightmare indeed, I was on the bike today with all those torrential rains, a lot of shitty drivers around who don't care 1 bit about you being on a bike under the flood and the fact you cannot brake/avoid them or you fall. I skidded the rear tire 3 times on the white paint going 15 km/h ! Not fun...

But what about keeping the bike and riding only outside Shanghai ?
I very seldom ride in Shanghai, I do 95% of my riding outside, touring Zhejiang, it's much less dangerous and much more enjoyable.

I'm decently tolerant of ignorant people on the road cutting me off, but someone intentionally trying to kill me!!! I don't know what I would have done in that situation. I also just bought this same bike (air-cooled) and it is fun! Much recommended.

Just bumping my old thread. This brings back some painful memories, but I do miss that old bike. Selling that Hu C for ¥7000 was probably the worst financial decision I’ve ever made in my life. I don’t even want to know how much that’s worth now.
