I have been watching this bike with interest.

As I am intending to buy an offroad bike that I can also use for occasional weekend tours this looks not bad.

But on the other hand they have the X2 which seems to be a good bike by now. Can anybody point out why to get an X5 over the X2?

X5 has slightly more power but is heavier, so acceleration should be similar.
Handling of the lighter X2 should be better, while the X5 might be more comfortable.
Look of the X5 is cool, no doubt. But it is considerably more expensive. (Just for a few more plastic parts???)

To me it looks like a X2 is more fun for less money. And by dong a few adjustments to luggage rack, maybe gearing and suspension it should be just as suitable for touring. Am I missing anything?

I would say the X5 is a dual sport whereas the X2 is a enduro, I have a supermoto and I hate doing long distances on it as its not designed to dot hat its designed for messing about being a enduro with 17'' wheels on, really depends on what you will do more I spend most my time in rural or urban environments which suits a supermoto but if I had to do long distances often i would choose a bike with better range and comfort while the engine is barely over idle at higher speeds which a smaller engine would be straining to keep up to.

I bought a X5 today. In fact the X5 is for travelling I would say. 19L tank, comfortable seat. The X2 is for offroad fun. About 8L tank, slim seat. Compare the front forks and you find a real solid offroad fork on the X2 and a dual sport fork on the X5.

Ok, while not having riden a dual sport, I see the difference between a JH 600 and a X2 of cause. The X5 just looked to me as if you disassembled a few plastic parts it would be the same like a enduro. But if you say it clearly is a dual sport its fine.

I guess then I will first get a X2. I want a offroad fork and don't mind the seat. And the streets here dont allow criusing above 80 for long.

Anyways thanks for the input and helping with my buying decision, will keep an eye on the X5 anyways.

i'm sure you'll find some epic dirt roads to use the X2 on must do a ride report with the obligatory pictures of a enduro on over looking a city.
