a slip on muffler is a generic sports silencer that universally fits onto most bikes thats less restrictive in the baffles as the stock exhaust making it free flowing comparably

I like my motorbike more and more but there are some issues.
- My chain is getting really loose all the time. after 3500km i need a new one
- my rear brake locked during last holidays
- just after the 3000km warranty expired, the electric starter died, and the brake light was always on - these two things I got fixed for 30rmb last weekend
- last weekend the horn switch fell off.
- the original sparkplug was messed up.
My chain ist still fine (4,7 k on the clock) but I cleaned and re-lubed it many times (as for the cleaning chain discussion: I clean with WD40 and then use spray-on lubricant)
I had a locked rear-brake three weeks ago aas well but was able to find a work-around on the road, then I had the rear disk removed and they checked the whole break circuit
Starter and brake light are unreliable on my bike as well
My bike takes 3,22l/100km. It used to be 2.75. And the oil, even though I change it more often than once every 1000km is always black. I got the smaller sprocket this saturday, new chain, and new horn switch. It's nice to see on taobao, that most of the parts are cheaper than 100y. Sometimes much cheaper.
I tried to clean the air filter. I've found it, but it's not so easy to take it out. Mechanic confirmed I will have to remove the silencer to do that. Is it a big deal? He said I can do that on my own. I got the user manual finally, it says the air filter should be cleaned after first 1000km and then each 4000km. Didn't do that yet. Someone wrote in internet that how often the filter should be cleaned depends on how clean is the air. So here - very unclean. He also said in the dirt bike after riding on the track he would clean it every time.
@Fahni: the tubes are waiting for you.
Thanks for the tubes!
I will bring foam air filter cleaner and oil back from home after christmas, so then we could go through this together.
I already stored my bike for winter by now, just have to take out the battery.
How are first impressions with the smaller rear sprocket?
I just had a ride from the shop with new sprocket. I think it didnt loose too much power and maybe the engine is not screaming so much all the time. I think I'll try to clean the airfilter this weekend. I got some oil. I'm just worried if I'll unattach the muffler and then reattach it if there wont be any gaps
Do you have cleaning fluid as well?
no, but i've read the dishwashing detergent shoud be fine. I've seen paperfilters for JH150GY-2 on taobao. I wonder if changing it would make any sense
ah, I don't have your tubes, they re in the shop
Nothing changed with consumption on my bike. Still at 2.75l/km. Just drove 270 km on my last ride before refill.
Did you check your carb? And another thing: remeber the choke? First I thought it is open when it is way up, but it is the other way around: when you start, it should be down and then you push the lever up again. Maybe you are driving with your choke wide open and this is why you are using so much fuel...
its not possible to ride with open choke i guess, when you accelerate its hm choking. How do I check carb? Another thing to learn;) On chinese forum they said it might be that i ride in not very economical way hehe
Well, redlining it will definetly not help:mwink:
Messing with carbs is, from what I heard, in the premium league of MC maintenance. Maybe one of the advanced mechanics in BJ with his own workshop wants to give a weekend training course... Are you listening, LJH?
Or maybe after riding on an EFI JH600 you forgot all about carb cleaning, jetting, etc?
Seriously, I have another german friend who is a trained trucking engineer, multiple former MX champion of Berlin, self-trained CJ650 mechanic and in general a wizard when it comes to motorbikes. Unfortunately, he went home for some months and it is only half decide if he actually will come back, but if he is coming back to the Jing, I am going to press him hard for that carb training workshop.
I had the rear brk. lock up as well. It was the "stop bolt" under the brk. lever. It had lossened up and applied the brk. Turns the disc blue and wore out the pads before I caught it. replaced the pads, but still using the "blue" disc.
The chain and the tires are kind of substandard and don't last long. I replaced the chain at 1,000, Km and went one tooth bigger on the counter shaft sprocket[12T to a 13T] at that time.
The filter should be first rinsed in solvent[gas], then water and left to dry, then an app. of foam filter oil. Don't over-oil it.
I've had no other problems, currently at 8,000 Km.
Would like to find a better rear shock though, the stock one is awful.
My Jialing came with the carb calibrated very well, only slightly lean on the low-speed mixture.
There is no point to mess with these carbs, as it will not gain any power. Mixture settings only effect idle and off=idle drivability.
The recommend solvent by chinese maker is Kerosene http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queroseno :eek2:
@motomech: did you have to remove the muffler to take out the airfilter box?
"advanced mechanics"? :lol8: I'm the guy who had to PM ChinaV to ask him how to remove the seat on a Galaxy XTR! :rolleyes1:
I sure do like carbs. I like the ability to see/feel/smell everything that is going on. And carbs are, actually, surprisingly simple ... especially on single cylinder bikes.
But I'd definitely sign up for your friend's carb-workshop. One never knows everything. Or, as is often the case for me, "anything."
EFI? Well, I have a couple other EFI bikes that run just fine - they are great when everything is working properly. The JH600 issue kinda reminds me of the infamous Microsoft Windows 95 "blue screen of death." MS solution for a "stall"? "Restart"
Well, put yourself in my shoes, for me everybody who has ridden a motorbike more than one year and has more experience than bringing the bike to the mechanic is considered "advanced".
But I am going keep an eye on carb ws question. As far as I understand carbs are not that difficult to comprehend but the parts are tiny and there are a lot of springs and jets and levers that can be damaged easily...
I don't remember if I had to remove the rear section of the exh. to service the air filter element, I don't think so. But I had the pipe off once anyhow, very easy. Just removed the two mounting bolts and it slid right off. I didn't even loosen the clamp.
Although the air box is very large for the engine displacement[a good thing], the filter element is rather small. So It's a good idea to check [clean]it often to maintain performance. A worth while mod. would be to fab. up a filter out of some dual stage foam[like the Uni Filter material. The original is just standard foam.
I looked the bike over last night and at 7500 Km, it's ready for a major service. I hate to admit it, but I skipped the first valve adjustment and now I can hear a slight tick. Also still runing the original Chinese plug and it's time to get a NGK in there.
The frt. spokes are loose again, the rears have been tightened three times[once a wheel true] and this will be the third time for the frt. It's normal for any new bike to need attention to the spokes, but this is a little excessive. I think the steel rims are a little soft and perhaps the spokes are somewhat big[in gauge] and don't flex much. Hence, the continual loosening. A pair of alum alloy rims[with the original spokes]would be a wise addition to this bike for anyone who off-roads or frenquents bad roads.
The first 3500 Km's, this bike saw a lot hard off road usage, but I got tired of being beat to death by the rear shock. It's fine in something like whoops or speed bumps, but hit a sharpe pot-hole and the rear suspension just locks up. Way too much compression damping. I'm 225 lb.s and I have the rear spring pre-load backed off almost all the way to try and soften it up. I have looked at modifying the linkage to increase the leverage, but the link is cast and impossible to mod. One thing a shorter rider could do, is to remove the shock and redrill the clevis end mounting holes closer to the shock body. This would reduce the seat height an inch or two. Plenty of room under the rear fender, probably 9 inchs or so and the wheel travel is only about 6 inches. For anyone off=roading this bike, I would sugest lookink fo a replacemnt shock.
The frt forks are passible. There is an audible clack on rebound[when they topout]that I have been told is common to this model. It sounds like the topping-out springs are missing, but frt forks haven't used topping-out springs for decades. It probably could use some fresh fork oil. I would recommend 15 wt.[mix 10wt. and 20wt.] and about 20cc's extra[measure what comes out to know how much]. Overall, they are stong forks that don't flex much, but they do creak in their clamps, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything.
Just to recap, I replaced the chain and rtear tire at 2K Km because I could see they weren't going to last very long. At the time, I replaced the 12 tooth counter-shaft sprocket with 13T. Perfect gearing for the road with a heavy rider like me. I think any higher gearing would result in excessive drive-line snatch[a shuddering in the transmission].
The bike is about 9 months old and has spent most of it's life out of doors and still looks new. Not a speck of rust and the plastic is as bright as ever. Very impressive!
Hey, great post, good to know what will happen in future. I'd like to read it in polish ;) Did you buy the same set of tires?
I have finally got out the airfilter - third try (+2 to respect). Cleaned it, greased it and I went to see if there is any difference. The manual says I should clean it after first 1000km, dirtbike riders say they clean it after every ride what with BJ pollution could also make sense here. I thought it was not so cold, so I kept on riding until I was at point where I could just go on. I've found crazy route. Perfect for small dirtbikes. The road was closed for cars and I guess motorbikes were not really welcome there as its a black hiking trial but it was so amazing! rocks, high slopes. Photos are from google earth, not mine. Highly recommended (Fahni!) and I've met one guy from motorfans.cn on blue JiaLing 150
MCM members meet Motorfans members. It was supposed to be an extreme offroad JiaLing trip, ended up 7 bikes with dinner. Too cold!

I digress, but so you think maybe Jialing got a really great price on blue paint? :icon10:
Very much admire and envy you guys for getting out and riding at the coldest time of the year! How about some details? Surely you did more than just eat!
cheers, and thanks for posting.
Very nice trip, filipu. Many thanks for organizing it. Do you happen to have the link to the RR on motorfans.com? I can't find it...
Filipu and I met in Chanping with 5 motorfan members, all chinese. two of them were driving JH 150-GY3s and the other cruiser bikes (2x 125 cc and one 250 cc). First some curvy mountain roads to get out into the "wild", then a leg of maybe 1km offroad to get onto a very narrow road connecting some small villages. After maybe 1,5 h of riding, there was another 2-3km stretch of more difficult offroad riding but it wasn't too bad. After all, the cruisers were able to follow us. Very nice scenery with some frozen rivers and all.
I wore many layers and thick gloves. The only part that got cold was my feet while riding on the expressway. But as soon as we were riding slower and had to work more on the bikes, the cold was gone.
Total mileage was around 170 km from BJ city center and it took us about 3,5 h riding time ( plus 1,5h eating:thumbsup:)
I did not take any pictures bt we are currently collecting all the pictures taken and will post some more...
Props again to filipu for organizing the trip!
Hey, I'm very happy it worked out. I wanted to meet some chinese riders for a long time, I'm sure it's much easier for them to find good tracks than us. And they can give some advice. As far as I know this was supposed to be the track but it might have changed. Our leader was 代步王 and these are his photos.

it's somewhere near summer pallace.
Thanks DaiBu!
I always feel kind of disapointed after I'm thinking yeah, nice offroad on my JiaLing and then I see 125 Suzuki doing the same route with no problem.
Good work guys!
Frozen river-crossing, i think that's a first on MCM!
