Will it be available? Other 300cc Kawasakis are not here.
It does look appealing this thing

I have had an eye on this as well as a potential option. Early reviews in the US seem to be favourable. There is supposed to be a 250 vstrom as well but......so far nothing
there is the versys 650, expensive but looks good enough
for local conditions I think I would be happy with a DR650/xt/xr or something like that but, unavailable.
I think an enduro type bike makes a certain amount of sense, they are certainly the way to go at home. here though there is a real lack of large displacement enduros at a reasonable price. I can't stomach 145 + tax for a KTM 690 Enduro :wheelchair:
to add to the "interesting potential but not yet, if ever coming models" list in the SWM SuperDual https://www.swmmotorcycles.com.au/superdual/. in theory that would do me just nicely, thank you
SWM RS 650 R Enduro, about half price of the KTM ....

Most Enduro style bikes come with small petrol tanks 200km or less which IMO that is a problem without carrying extra fuel.
From my recent 60.000 km ride, what percentage do you think I wish I was on my Honda CRF 250l ????
Thinking back adding up all the KM I hit bad roads was no more than 400km so that works out at less than 1%.
So even on a 260kg Touring bike with road tyres you can still ride about, yes at times very slowly but I got to the end ok

I know which bike is more suited for long hours in the saddle and not haveing to watch the fuel gauge all the time

If you are looking for dirt then the SWM for sure the better bike.

I know the Shineray manager! He's a little helpful when it comes to stuff but often just puts you to another person - Chinese ways huh

So about a month since first posing this question here and about 2 months in total of umming and ahhhing and researching and analysing and sweating I finally came to a conclusion.
I want a decent sized, well made bike but really couldn't find anything that I really wanted, within my financial constraints. Some new friends here in town are R1200gs riders and were gently nudging me in that direction but....
1. I felt nothing for the bike (i.e. it didn't blow my skirt up)
2. Even 2nd hand they were over my budget which made me feel a little uncomfortable
3. All the gadgetry and rider aids etc were a bit of a turn off (other than ABS, which I wouldn't mind having). I got the sensation of almost driving an SUV..... (nothing against the GS owners out there, they are awesome bikes, I am just not ready for one yet)
4. I like the idea of "man alone" kind of adventures, and although I can comfortably pick up a gs when it is on flat ground, I had images of being in the middle of nowhere with 300kgs of machine stuck somewhere that I couldn't move it
So I looked at other things, a Kawaskai Versys, A Ducati Scrambler and a Hypermotard, The Benelli 502 and 600, Shinerays, SWMS, KTMS, Honda NC750..... the list is endless
I think I know what larger bike I would like to buy in the future (more on that later) but for now I want something smaller, simpler, cheaper. In other words something that if the shit hit the fan (in whatever way that might happen here) I would/could walk away from it and not be hurting too much.
So what did I buy?
A Honda CBF190X. Basically a little air cooled street bike with a reasonable seating position, high handle bars and a decent screen. I am due to pick it up tomorrow. lets see how quickly the ks get racked up on it!

The research is over your choice had been made.
A good starter bike to get you going.
See you on the road.
Keep the rubber down
:scooter::riding::scooter:
My underline bought same bike and seems to be happy with it.
Yhr built quality is good and I am sure u will have fun. Only I think the bike is a bit small for your height. (?)
Sent from my GN8003 using Tapatalk
Its certainly not perfect and surely is a little short but once the seat is padded (for height and comfort) and the bars raised accordingly, it will be enough to get me through the next 12 weeks where I have barely any work to do and therefore LOTS of free time. AND by that time I will have enough experience on Chinese roads to know what I really need and whether or not one of the new bikes due out in September will in fact be suitable for me.
It will get you around to gain the needed exprenace as you rightly mentioned.
Tell more ?Quote:

Kato 1190 ?

just dreams at the moment. Due in China in September
I assume a price of 160k +tax +plate.
But .... What costs nothing, ... Is nothing, especially in China ...😁

Now I understand with a dry weight of only 207kg and a tank range off 400 km bike sounds sweet..
But from the EU price of 16,560.00 I think the end price on the road will be close to 250.000 RMB and with the Honda CRF 1000 on the road here in China at 185.000 with the DCT version just over 200.000 RMB my money is on the DCT Twin.
I think Shuben is more on the money price wise, hence my interest. My dealer tells me it will be 150 + + (plates are cheap here).
My understanding is that it will be significantly cheaper because it will be primarily assembled in an ASEAN country (I think he said it was Malaysia but Thailand seems more likely to me).
BUT... I do prefer Japanese products and I do have a particular boner for things Made in Japan.
BUT... relative values are different, the Honda is a relatively cheap bike in most markets and the Kato Is more expensive. Soooo doing my China maths, if the Kato is cheaper here than the Honda (and its a bike of similar lust factor) then that makes it good value (relatively).
Anyway, I just got my baby Honda yesterday (its not even plated yet) and plan to give it some serious work over the next few months. Who knows, it could be all that I need.
I took it into the mountains last night for a gentle shake down and everything seems pretty good. Doing 50km/h on it feels like 120 on a GS or a Multistrada, so I am already winning by getting grins at relatively safe speeds :wheelchair:
Ride an ok Chinese bike and get familiar with things, you'll enjoy that just as much as they big end bikes and with a ton on money in your pocket to spend later on

Do yous know whats the expected price of the Kawasaki versys 300 here?
You and me too ...
The 650 Versys is 85 K so should be less than that.... But more than the CFmoto 650 MT?
shouldnt be more then the duke 390
Kawa Versys X300 ABS is priced about 40k. I think tax, insurance and plate are on top.
I assume a ready to run price of 45k RMB
That should be a really good option if the ergos are suitable. I saw a little more info on the 250 Vstrom the other day too, apparently claiming a 200kg dry weight :eekers:
I've PM'd you back MetalMonkey.
Lots of links included in my PM.
It'll take you a day to ride to Ningbo area from SH, especially if you have never done it before...
There is Morganshan area which is to the northwest and western sides of Hangzhou, also a nice area, but that's it... for the better stuff Zhejiang has to offer and there is a lot, one has to head south of Hangzhou... Lishui is another great area for riding. There lots of places and I've PM'd ya links on some of them.
Just to clarify...
The ferry that departs from Shanghai (overnight) is to Putoushan off the coast from Beilun, Ningbo and the nearby islands which are many. Putuoshan which is an island with lots of temples, and loads of mythology in TIC tradition. In reality it's heavily commercialised and expensive, and you can't drive or ride on the island, you either walk or pay for seat on mini buses.
Qiandaohu is the thousand island lake area, which comes under Hangzhou administration/rule
Taohuadao (peach blossom island) can be reached by a ferry which departs from a terminal on the Binhai/Chunxiao peninsular link
If you don't cross the big bridge .... Then it about 6 hours more riding.
1 option is to put your bike on a pickup or inside a van just to get you over the bridge.
I did the bridge crossing a few weeks ago both ways and the police did chased me.
Not recommended on a small c.c. bike.
