Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Anybody else have any problems with exhaust rattling? The spot welds on the baffling inside mine broke in a few places and caused a VERY irritating rattle noise at various speeds. If I put my foot on the exhaust shield it stops. I have the baffle out of the pipe and I'm going to wrap it in steel wool (trick my muffler shop told me) and re-weld it in with JB Weld. I'll report the results.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
After reinstalling the baffling and wrapping it with several layers of steel wool I am still getting a rattle. It actually sounds like it is coming from the smaller diameter section around where the heat sheild is. It goes away when I press on the heat shield. It is NOT the heat shield though because I took it off and it still rattles. I'm leaning towards the catalytic rattling against the pipe. Anyone think you could get that out without grinding the exhaust apart?

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Babyswiss,
I also think that the rattle is coming from the catalytic converter. Mine has that rattle. I have thought about cutting the pipe to get to it but would like to get a new exhaust before sawing it apart. I need to call and find out what a new exhaust would cost.

[QUOTE=barnone;33630]My glossy black DF appears to have clear coat over the tape on the tank and fenders. I tried starting to pull off the tape with my fingernails but I can't get it started. What am I doing wrong?
hey barnone, my stripes are clear coated over too, no way they're coming off without a ruining the paint.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I see the DF importer is running a sale on the Bobber and other models. I would not be surprized to see them sell retail for under $2K.

hooliganboy,
Thanks for the confirmation on the clear coat. I didn't believe that they would use clear coat on our inexpensive China bikes.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Been getting a few PM's on sprockets so I'll post the site again.

The rear sprocket change seems to be the only required mod since the new DF's appear to be coming with 105 main jets.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Well I got tired off seeing the rust/oxidation inside the exhaust so I put this tip on it. It makes the exhaust sound a little better and deeper. I also got sick of looking at the permanent gas stain on the tank so I painted it. BTW the hair band around the gas cap did stop it. My wife says it is ugly but I kinda like it.

She's just mad you used her hair band on your bike and it looks better on your bike? J/K :riding:

http://www.batterystuff.com/powerspo...09A2-BS12.html will still fit in the battery box with plenty of room. They supply foam to fill the void.
I'll keep it in mind when I need another replacement battery. Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately that battery will not fit in the DF battery box. The DF box is approximately 3 1/8" wide, 5 3/8" high, and 5 3/8" long on the inside.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I got a Schumacher automatic charger at walmart for $24 that works great. Comes with 2 pigtail Adapters one with spades for permanent mount(which I use) and another with alligator clips for temp use on other batts like mower or car. In the auto/moto dept.

Re: Bobber
My Dad (I'm 49) just ordered a Dongfang 250 bobber. You wouldn't believe the reason he got one. Hes 71 yrs. old and had to give up his 2006 250 Kaw. Ninja because hes having trouble getting his leg over it. And being a twin overhead cam paralell twin (side by side cylinders) a bit more of its weight is a little high. Higher center of gravity than a lower slung bobber style single in other words. And the bobber has an over all lower profile than the Ninja does so he can get on it easier. BTW, Ivy at ScooterDepot sent his MSO and bill of sale the day after they sent the bike. And guess what, It's already here, before the bike is even due to be here. The Bobber is due to be here next Tues. As soon as I can find an Icon that I can click on to start a new thread I will keep you posted about a more recent Dongfang 250 Bobber experience. John

Fantastic story! Welcome to the forum and I hope both you and your old man can post early and often about this new adventure!

It's pretty easy once you get the logic. Click on the Forum tab at the top, then select an appropriate forum where you think your thread will best fit, and click on that. Once the new page loads, you'll see a "post new thread" tab in the upper left. Off you go!
Please don't forget to include pix, without which your bike of course is a non-existent vaporbike. Would be great to see your dad on his Ninja and also the bikes side by side for size and comfort comparison.
Incidentally, what are you riding John? Does this put you on the Ninja?
Welcome again, and cheers!
