The engine used in the Shineray 250 are based on a Yamaha engine? FZ16

That engine is manufactured as a 170MM by Yingang
Unfortunately the Shineray with that engine has or claims to have a 37” seat height at 945mm. I know a Puerto Rican mechanic that could lower it for you, but he is several thousand miles from you.

wow! i'm enjoying looking at all these different bikes, especially the ones with the super-fat back tires, makes them look real mean and menacing! i think i pretty much have my heart set on the qingqi though and will probably wait for when / if it is released...
in the meantime i'll keep spending all my time on the internet looking at different bike models in case something else sways my heart :)
and whilst we're posting pictures of bikes we like, and i can't sleep, i thought i'd put some pics of the bikes i was considering / saw and really liked..

and i only just realised that they were all Yamahas as i was uploading these photos..
Actually that’s is a Chinese engine transplanted into it, the Chinese engines is a not a copy of a Yamaha FZ-16 they have 150cc engines.
Here is a thread on the swap on an Indian forum….the individual paid $1,300.00 for the engine. Bought direct from the factory and had is tagged with his original engine serial number…tsk tsk.

The bikes you like are great they are expensive in the USA….the wr250x is $6,590.00

It has a fully adjustable rear and front suspension, 10.6-10.4 travels range front and rear, you can or could ask if they can cut that down for you so you can feel comfortable on it. That would be what 4-5” it has a 35.2” seat and you need that lowered. It would look cool lowered.
I like the Kawasaki KLX250...it also a nice looking bike. Not as pricey as the Yamaha
http://www.mtechmotorcycles.com/imag...sf-mod3-lg.jpg $1,250.00 less.
The tricker is a trials bike, you stand on the pegs it has no seat, you going to be a stunt rider?
The Shineray is similar to the WR250X it has the same type engine, it be less costly and you could then get it customized with the cost difference. You could make it look very much like the WR250X.
Fascinating thread, and that looks like a very good quality forum. Nice to have a glimpse of how India is dealing with the Chinese motorbiking behemoth. The guy who did this engine swap, Lavs, seems not to ever deal with the question posed to him about Chinese quality. But clearly he knows that quality can be had in China -- if you are prepared to keep a close eye on things!
Once again, MJH, your encyclopedic knowledge leaves me dazzled!

MJH, i agree with euphonius, it's amazing the amount of knowledge in your brain! i am aware that those yamaha's are expensive which is why in the end i don't think i'll get one.. and i just think the Tricker looks really cool, and it does have a seat:

EDIT: this guy makes the Zhongshen look small because he's like 6'5"..
The Shineray 250 is a Honda NX250/AX1 based motor. One of the coolest 250 singles ever produced for the DS world IMHO.
Looking at that pic closer though... it does make me scratch my head. Okay figured it out cuz that didn't seem right.
The images you posted are not of the original Yamaha engine. An engine swap was performed in the pictures you originally posted.
Post #08 in the following thread will confirm the Honda NX250 origins.

I am looking for thinkers, I see that a South African investor has bought a local mall and that mall is the location of a PSI, it is located within it, a Power Sports Institute. The Mall is nearly abandoned and was at one time the largest mall in the USA.
The intentions are to convert that mall into a distribution centers, warehousing, logistics etc.
I am very active on the internet, I post often lengthy detailed content and within them are ideas related to business models and concepts call me the Johnny Appleseed of ideas.
This one is hot and could be a base for a large system supporting the importation of Chinese power sport products.
The key to it is the system and complete documentation, cross referencing tagging detailing stocking and linking it all online. That would require a lot of linkage as in joint venture planning, a system, the school is a magnet and can be linked to other programs and universities.
I like open source software and would like to see a process that allows easy transfers of products through the value chain. From manufacturer to end consumer, getting access to the lower cost products and creating new industry to support it.
Here is link to a related article:
Yeah my brain is a trip…
I build what I call logical links, I try to make things happen. What is that button for, lets just push it and see what happens? The internet is connected and ideas are like butterflies and now they can fly electronically.
