Just got these from Tom Weaver today, showing placement for his Heist mid controls. Tom is 5' 8" tall, with a 30" inseam, and the Heist he is pictured on is equipped with stock handlebars. If you're more inclined toward a standard riding position than the current obsession most guys have with forward controls, these mids are just your ticket.
Note, however, that they cannot be moved any farther back or further forward due to placement of the Heist's transmission, and you'll need a custom fabbed exhaust, too.

Stu from South Africa here. I've been thinking about getting my first bike for a little while now and came across an old aquaintence who was building a Triumph Bobber.....One thing led to another and in my search of Bobbers I came across the Heist. I'm fairly sold on the thing. I want to go have a look at some local ones next weekend.
For a first bike I figure I need something slowish and cheap....and the Heist beats the hell out of anything else ive seen for the pirce!! Plus I can finance a bit of it, as I dont have the cash money all in one place.
Just some questions:
The guys that have put some decent mileage on em....any problems? Common things to give trouble?
Are parts for these engines readily available? Are there any "generic" sort of parts or will I have to order parts from the USA dealers anytime something goes wrong?
Have any of you guys ridden the Heist at altitude? Johannesburg is at 5500-5700 ft above sea level, so just wondering how the little motor will pull the bike around up here.
I really like the look of the thing, and I'm a little intimidated by starting on a 650 or something like that so it seems perfect. Alright "first bike"?

The carburetor can be correctly jetted for your elevation--I live in Denver, Colorado, USA, which is also one mile above sea level, and my carbed small displacement thumpers run just great when dialed in right. But you've got to be spot-on with the jetting!! :eekers:

Checked out the Facebook group....that scared me a little. So many issues seem to be popping up. If I had a Weaver shop near by I wouldn't be too stressed but I have absolutely no idea how the local SA resellers are. Service in general in SA is pretty bad a lot of the time.

A note about CCW quality control! :eekers:
1) CCW's motors are Lifan counterbalanced clones of the old Honda CRF230 motor. Despite the fact they are a Chinese company, Lifan makes very good motors because they simply copy small displacement Japanese motors that are extremely reliable to begin with.
2) CCW motos are built in Communist China--there's no way around those two terrible words: Communist, and China. China bikes require much more attention to maintenance than their Taiwanese, South Korean, and Japanese counterparts. That's because these other countries are democratic republics with a tradition of free-market principles, meaning that they know they'll sell more products when said products please their customers. Basic capitalism always works this way.
3) CCW bikes are currently the best China bikes on the market. Despite this, they are still China bikes. If you know not to expect a SYM, Hyosung, or Honda right out of the box then you'll save yourself a lot of frustration.
4) If you don't have a reliable dealer nearby, or do not enjoy tinkering and are not mechanically proficient, I personally suggest you get something other than a CCW moto.
BMW allows some of their engines to be built in China because those factories are quality controlled by BMW German employees; all the Japanese Big Four allow various parts (including some engines) to be built in China because those factories are quality controlled by Japanese employees. Cleveland Cyclewerks allows their motorcycles to be built in China because the factory is quality controlled by CCW American employees. But here's the rub, man: CCW is a moto manufacturer building to the lowest price point on purpose. They're new--they have to. So expect the quality to reflect this fact.

So I got to a local dealer yesterday to see The heist. They had 4 there, on with a custom pipe, made locally. The sales/manager lady at the dealer was really hot...do my caveman male brain got overwhelmed and I can hardly remember what the bike was like!! DOH! Stupid brain!
Nah I sat on it and it felt great. Any time I've sat on a friends sport bike I've felt really uncomfortable and worried that I'd drop it. The Heist felt heavier than I was expecting, but in a good way. It is still a full size bike.
I have some experience with VWs, engine swaps, suspension installs and all but I'm very much a fuel injection guy, carbs confuse the hell out of me do that'll be my only real battle to learn. When you guys say "weaver carb" is that a whole new carb or just a modified stock one?
I feel like I'm sold on the bike, not just because of the super hot sales lady!! Hehe.
Gonna book for my learners license and take it from there.
It is a jetted carb that Weaver adjust to your exhaust. Weaver rides is next to Pit motors and Weaver is the expert for customizing the heist. He did mine and I love it.

Hey all,
I've been out riding my Heist quite a bit since the weather has been unseasonably warm here in south-eastern PA, and I've noticed a little issue I was hoping y'all might be able to help me with. Since I'm such a tall guy, I had to adjust the seat as far back as it would go which gives me about 1" of suspension travel before the seat hits the rear fender. So basically when I sit on the bike I have NO clearance. I guess my question is would getting the air-bag seat kit fix this? The problem seems to be that the mounting points for the seat springs are too far forward when the seat is moved all the way back and the shocks aren't long enough to give any real clearance.
I'm wondering if the combo of a new, softer seat, and the air bag will make this bike all the more enjoyable. I rode about 35 miles yesterday and am quite sore today as a result. I checked out eBay and found some seats I like, but was wondering if the bolt placement on them is universal, or am I going to have to custom fit?
Any thoughts would be great.

You will need to drill out about an 1/8 of an inch on the stock bracket. Contact John from 233 Motorsports he has a set of seat springs and kit that bolt direct to the bike. I picked up a LaRosa knock off to put on the bike need to mod the bracket to fit it where I wantQuote:

Oh and guys I am back 3000 miles completed all the way to Daytona FL and back with riding in between on my Heist Nothing but love for the lil girl she was cruising at 70 - 75mph with a passing speed of 80 - 85mph and even broke 90 a few times

Well i pulled the trigger, and placed my order for a heist. Kelly @weaver said she would send pics of the build, and both Kelly and Tom were very patient answering any questions I had. The countdown has begun, 14 days and the bike should be done.

I took my 1st trip out of town with a couple of friends from the 9th Island Riders M/C we rode about 40 miles out of Vegas to Indian Springs. The weather was great heading down there we stopped and got some breakfast and chatted for a bit before heading back into town. It got really windy and I wasn't able to break 60 was around 50-55 most of the way heading back into town but over all was still a very relaxing ride. Here's a few pics.

Hey Guys I'm another Heist Rider from Sin City Vegas. I picked up my scoot a couple weeks ago from john at 233 Customs. Awesome guy who made the purchasing experience go very smooth. From day one just hanging out at his shop asking questions and watching him build rebel19's Crazy Horse to the day i took delivery. There's no way I would ever get that type of service from the local stealerships lol.

I'm still day dreaming about bobbers and trawling all the forums and websites I can...Still a month to go till my learners test.
After being told that Tha Heist will give me cancer and kill me with certain death if I even sat on it, Ive been looking at alternative bikes to buy and chop myself.
XS650s are impossible to find....So the next best things are Honda CBs, but cant find old ones...and then Yamaha SR250s....There are plenty but it just seems so tiny.....Plus then to chop it myself and spend more time and money.....and not be able to ride it or ages.
Tha Heist seems to be the best option actually. I really need to teach myself to ride so I can at least take one for a test ride before buying.
Very cool man Vegas seems to be exploding like the NJ area glad to have ya on board man. John seems a great guy hope to get out there one day and swap stories over a brew with him and all you ridersQuote:
