It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
Hi Guys,
Noob forum user, hope it is OK to post on here as a 1st post? Out of frustration and very tired arms I've come here to ask for some help if at all possible? :)
Purchased a Superbyke RSR (Sinnis Stealth/Quinqgi QM125-2D) for peanuts as a non runner, turns out a valve had come apart and was pounded a few times by the piston resulting in one borked head and holed piston.
I was all ready to buy a new head with rockers, new barrel and piston and then I seen a deal for a Keeway Strike 125 engine on ebay, 2015 model with 3k on the clock... starter motor is on same side as mines and its labelled as an 157FMI. Measurements of the case, bolt holes all match up but can I get it to fit... nope, top lines up but then cant get bottom/axle/main bolt to line up as its caught slightly on the front of the frame etc etc lol.
Is there any specific technique to getting these engines back in and lined up properly?
Many thanks in advance for any info/assistance.
-Stu
Re: It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
So I've found that my original engine is a K157FMI, the new one is 157FMI-2 - I've googled quite a bit and not found any information - other than a slightly thicker engine mount setup on the front/exhaust side they are are essentially the same I think - Does anyone know any different at all?
Thanks,
-Stu
Edit: New engine notice the frame setup, ignore the slightly longer sprocket cover: http://puu.sh/nJ5Jw/c3d474e21c.jpg
Old Engine... and slightly shorter sprocket cover http://puu.sh/nJcdF/5cbfbee14b.jpg
Will get better/real pics tomorrow. :)
Re: It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
Qinggi is a legal copy that paid fees to Suzuki , Keeway doesn't (Different ignitor, higher c/r 10.5:1 ...)
Domestic version

Nobody knows the difference btw Keeway & "Legal" (Suzuki /Hyosung/ Qingqi) model yet

Hi Humanbeing,
Many thanks for your reply, as far as I've read I can use original CDI as timing should be the same or similar? Would I need custom CDI ?
I'm having an engine mount fabricated so that the front/exhaust side of engine is mounted correctly.

It's all related to the "boss" length on rotor http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/view...originator=yes | 47mm Recent yr's Suzuki & clone / 32mm Good 'o Suzuki
2's http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=39943495866 plug style is similar to good 'o GS
If it behave weird , swap RSR's rotor to Keeway [OR buy an ignitor that suits Keeway...]

Well... the back lines up and the top, just need that bracket for front now.

On inspecting the stator/magneto wiring it seems everything is opposite? does anyone have wire colour guide for keeway 125 QJ157FMI-2B or Quinqi K157FMI stator or CDI ?
Thank you.

Don't know what's inside 2B | QJ157FMI-2 use 'o Suzi style https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=521038909042
K157FMI http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321623489713 is modern (longer) style...

I will try wire green to green and blue to blue and measure the 3 the wires, I think will be good... If I get it running it will take a video/movie! :D
So far this whole bike has cost me £200 including the new engine with only 3000km on it, worth while project! :D

Thank you.
Blue would be the trigger wire low voltage and the green is the ground wire.
Re: It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
Hi Guys,
Thanks to your kind assistance it now lives! It seems hesitant to rev until heated up but I think there may be water in the fuel as it has sat for a couple of months. Will try fresh fuel in it tomorrow, see how we get on! :)
Many thanks again for your assistance guys.
Re: It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
Hi again guys,
Cannot get engine to run without choke and it will not rev at all, tried changing flywheel but its the same therefore I think I need to change the CDI. Can you please advise on if a generic DC CDI would work, perhaps one of the ebay 'racing' cdi units?
Thanks,
-Stu
Edit: I have a AC CDI from a QJ157FMI (Not B version), could I make this 'fit' ? - Its same as http://www.seekpart.com/product/Moto...I-1811727.html
Re: It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
"Suzuki based" is another animal from chonda.
AC-CDI :eekers:
-How did u supply the source power into it. Suzi based stator don't have these.
-Trigger signal is different Suzi: - > + | Honda: + > - http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/view...originator=yes
-Chonda's length ~21mm on rotor | Suzi http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/view...originator=yes
-Suzi is using Induction coil http://sanxin.com.cn/exhibit/exhview.asp?pid=62 | CG http://sanxin.com.cn/exhibit/exhview.asp?pid=55

Checked air gap btw flywheel & pickup?
Is the CDI as manual's spec?
Carb OK ? Used bike's jet ALWAYS clogged...

Hi HumanBeing thank you for responding, your seem to be the *only* one anyone where on the internet helping with things like this, you deserve a reward! :)
The AC CDI is from a breaker not fitted at all, I got it thinking it would work but after looking at internet I'm not sure it will work so I have not used it yet. :)
Checked air gap btw flywheel & pickup? - All standard setup on the QJ157FMI-B, I have not changed anything there.
Is the CDI as manual's spec? Yes manual.
Carb OK ? Used bike's jet ALWAYS clogged...
It is K157FMi mikuni carb, FResh fuel, removed water from tank, changes hoses for breathers etc etc, but will strip it tomorrow and see whats what.

Yeah... I see the difference but I'm mechanical most of the time so not sure exactly how to wire that..
I tested the green wire and got nothing.. tested the blue/white wire (original CDI) and got a pulse when turning over, other than these there are two 12v wires, ones seems to be ignition live/constant one Is kill switch (I assume did not test it) but both are 12v+ with ignition on which is DC(battery connected).
No way to convert the AC to that without problems? Lights, gear indicator, rev counter all seem independent (On their own) of the CDI unit.

Hi Humanbeing & NzBrakelathes
Many thanks I'll take a look at these links... incidentally I've got it running OK ish on the DC CDI that was on the bike when I got it, the problems were caused by a single broken wire at the stator and the carb being filthy.
Unfortunately I run the battery flat with with testing so I'm waiting on a charger coming, after which I can do some more playing with the air/pilot screws (another learning curve for me lol).
Will post the next time I've had a play around with it! :)

based on the colors off your stator I would say its set to power a DC CDI, The colors off your R/R what are they?
Re: It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
Don't know which is on ur bike. Stock Qingqi (suzi clone) use 1 of these
Mikuni VM22 (slide) http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=16157
Mikuni BS26 (CV) As their ancestor ... Just follow the steps in Suzi manual

GZ have TPS but GN125 doesn't.
this CDI from K157FMI will work with my GZ125 if i remove TPS and TPS wires? in my country this K157FMI CDI have description "GN125 CDI replacement" and easy to get than used original one, but i afraid burn something in my bike. pls help
Re: It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
beniamin82 had many connections in ur country, someone he know may borrow u a Qingqi CDI for test...

12mm spark plug ? 32900-12***?
Nothing will burn up if wired correctly BUT the performance :confused1:
Re: It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
8pin CDI is 3x cheaper than CDI 2+3pins (like original GN CDI, second picture) that why i was ask. if it will work (if i good connect wires) and nothing burn ;) than i will be happy. i judge performance when i do it.
Re: It looks almost identical but just cant get it to fit :-/ (Engine)
Are u 100% sure it's the CDI's problem?
Sometimes pickup (although it's RARE) is the cause https://translate.google.com/transla...thorid%3D75082 ...

CDI somtimes may repairable (ie. the IC still in working order...)
