Mate it was.out of date when they starting building them ten years ago . So are harleys and Xr 250s but they still make them and lots of People buy them . Clocked up 20k km on mine and it runs fine...

Well 97 is the best you can buy so there is that. Efi usually has a detonation sensor so I don't think fuel octane is your problem.
13:1 is pretty high though so I hope the det sensor does its... -

You Should be aware that although the tank holds 16 litres it keeps 3 litres inside presumably to cool the fuel... -
