Motorcyclists reports Harley and Zong Shen are working together to bring their 883s to China...literally. HD seems to be eyeballing exporting US made bikes to China! GOOD LUCK!
Thanks to gpPeej for the heads up and link...

08-27-2009, 03:31 PMIt's just a start. The new news is that Harley begins opening dealerships in India soon. Despite a roughly %90 tariff there, they hope to make inroads.
This expansion is part and parcel to Asia changing it's view of riding motorcycles. We have talked lots about how riding is mostly just transportation to that part of the world. Here it's mostly sport, play, and recreation. Buyers may begin to look for the coolest bike...not just the best bargain. Time will tell.

I think there's a fundamental problem with riding large machines in an over populated country. One thing will be high likely-hood of theft. Another would be relatively poor fuel economy due to weight and all the other inconveniences that come when operating a large bike in dense traffic.
I've only been to Mumbai in India but I'd say there's almost no way I suggest anyone ride an expensive bike around those streets. The traffic is so bad you'd just be askin for nothing but oil leaks and hot pants on a Harley.
On the other hand, I'm sure HD has done their research though. I'd like to know what their long term plans are. That must have been (and still is) a difficult course to chart!
More luck to em' I say.

09-02-2009, 07:55 PMIt looks like an out and out racer with no street legal fittings. Even so no way a Chinese single cylinder 4-stroke develops 36 horses...
In fact if you search for the model number SN-GS686H you find other sites such as this one where they only claim 11.5 kw. Thats just over 15 horses.Jincheng Monkey JC50Q-7
