Well a 16/45 combination should be fine with a 230 cc so it has to be the internals. 14/45 would suit many that go off-road.
What sort of speeds you getting at which revs? Do you have GPS?
Wheel size and tyre type is about all you can change now before you have to get into the gearbox ...

yep there is a reason for that ................. - I am stoopid and made assumptions , you'd think I could count that high , sigh . It came with a 13T and I have now put a 14T with o ring chain on it - as big a front sprocket you can fit with a 520 chain I think ?

Will practice counting on the rear ............but not sure its worth swapping for the little difference I can make - be good to see if I can match with a more "mainstream" bike though .

Sorry for the confusion - mine !!

Went out yesterday with GPS on bars just to check the speedo and its pretty accurate - over reads by the usual 10% but not bad . I dont have any sensible engine specs to work out the overall ratios - maybe need to see what happens with the engine run in , might have to rig up a tach or get it in top gear and turn the crank the necessary number of turns to get one rev at the rear wheel - prob most certain way .

Will check rear sprocket teeth , assumed front was std 15T it is with 420 chain - its not ..........!

    Bojer,

Common mistake as there are about a hundred sprocket posts here and almost everyone forgets to mention the chain pitch when they're posting. I think your engine is pretty close to the one in my Galaxy.

If you convert to 428 you can get a 17 in there.

    Cheers!

Yeah, that is brilliant. Many, in fact just about everyone would never work that out. So important a factor that would solve so many issues where people have given up by then - that I think China V is now duty bound to write a short pictorial tutorial covering all the points of sprocket changing we mere mortals miss/forget/confuse ourselves with? It will be a sticky.
