#1 That old QM20002-25-2011, 09:36 AM
I'm smiling since I spent the whole day yesterday getting my new bike, actually it's not new, it's very, very used and has been standing for a year at Supersginet's place (he was not allowed to ride it so it's been sitting for a year in a small shed), we couldn't get it started for various reasons, but I just couldn't wait to get working on her, so I hired a van to go and pick the old girl up.
Here she is in the back of the van thing (we had to put it flat as there was no way it would fit standing up).
I got back, and got to work at my local bicycle repair shop down in my village, there were plenty of onlookers and people eager to lend their "expertise".
After using almost a full can of WD-40 on all the rust, I went ahead replacing some parts.
Parts that I replaced
1) new battery
2) new handlebars
3) new oil
4) new mirrors
5) new ignition and tank cap (thanks for the help Mike)
6) filled the tank
And then she turned over and ran.. what a surprise, this really is going to be an awesome project, I'll have the old girl
looking like new in no time.

Good job mate, there's a great little bike under that rust, dirt and stickers of dogs!
I'm just glad i wasn't stood behind it when you fired it up!! I reckon there was more water in there than oil in the engine

Darling, what have they done to you....
Nice to see the old QM200 is getting some love. That machine has quite a history: Started off as CrazyCarl's bike, became mine, on to Bryce, then Supersignet. She appeared in the QingQi full model line brochure with me, and is the bike in our famous valve adjustment tutorial. A lot of good memories with that machine.
This is what she looked like the last day I owned her.
One of my greatest days on a motorcycle up on the TB plateau in Sichuan.
Hopefully we will get a chance to ride soon
Cheers!

I can scarcely believe it's the same bike... wow
Anyway, it's in good hands now, all that wear and tear gives it character ;)
P.S is it just me who thinks those dog decals look like a dog turd with teeth from a distance?
@Rich, those beers certainly made the process easier, yeah, all the water is out of the engine now, and how much oil was in there again? less than 500ml?
* I just realised this bike is part of the MCM website logo ;)

...and that's why it's worth the effort getting a qingqi! they may be f@#$heads, but it's probably still one of the best bikes to get in china!
