11-13-2008, 04:34 PMcan anyone tell me how to set the timming on my shineray 250 atv, three marks on the crank but don't know where they need to line up, i have heard that this particular quad has issues with timing chains skipping. Anyone else have this issue

That really depends on the system. Is it an single/double overhead cam? push rod?

Mark,
If it's push rod, then it shouldn't need a timing chain.
Push rods can sometimes get bent and this will effect the valve actuation. Some pictures of the inside of your engine would help A LOT.
