This looks to be basically a chinese version of a BMW R75/65?

I guess they refer to these as the "Plastic Chang-Jiangs", even though their body part are mostly metal.
    These are a M15 model,

I have yet to find any information that would make me think that the Boxer engines are still in production in China.

Darn that M15 have enormous fron light :D

Notice the sidecar have two seats, rather awesome for a bike: one driver and three passengers :D

BMW kept developing that engine, it culminated in the R90, from what I understand.

The DNEPR 650cc could be made to specs, if it was made well it would last, it has 32hp and 40lbft of torque, nothing compared to modern engines of the size. Ural improved the 750cc’s cam shaft and added an oil filter and EFI. Chang Jiang had two versions of the engine the original and a later version.
In an alternative reality, they could begin with the 650cc and make it to tolerances, if it was made well it could be a starting point to develop it, bring it back and in classic style bikes.
BMW presented a modernized retro concept last year that is very cool, it takes that head light and brings it up to date.

    They call it Concept 90...

I would like to see Ural, DNEPR and Chang Jiang work cooperatively, in developing the engines. They all had the engine and never really did anything substantial with it, since it is now 2015 and with all the technological advancements, seems they could just begin now and combine resources to do it. It seems obvious that if there would ever be a Chinese Harley it be called a Chang Jiang. It does not have to be a super bike, it does not have to be state of the art, however it could be eventually. I take some offense and seeing old brand names become nothing more than badges on common copied designs coming out of china or even new version of old designs, it could be done better. Old Brands can be resurrected, but there should be a real link to their history, that engine is a link back and to me does represent a starting point. However that would only work if seriously backed we real talent and resources.

Please do a post of the chinese Jawa copy :D

(Usually I am enthusiastic of new use of "old" technology, but even with all this retro boom everywhere I am bit skeptical about the success of modern air cooled boxer engine. It would be all too good if simple and sturdy back to basics bike would be developed.)

Among the early motorcycles produced in China under license, there were also the Czechoslovakian Jawa 250, assembled in Shangai with the "Xingfu"brand, and produced still today. Up, there are a perfect "clone" of the Jawa "Typ 353" (first pic), the Xing-Fu 250 in the normal version (second pic) and with a new "coachwork" in fiberglass (third pic). All these bikes have a single-cylinder engine derived from the Jawa "Perak" (a project of the '50s!), with 14 hp...but the diabolic Chineses engineers obtained also a "Sport" version, with petal admission valve, with a little stronger power, 22 hp.

I would like to have motorcycle called an "FU 250"

These China Jawas look actually maybe better than those very old Jawas they are based on. That police Jawa would be rather awesome, if it would have a seat for the passenger.

And....brilliant! Chinese Jawa or MZ copy FU 250 would be the perfect bike

None of these are likely in production today, Chang Jiang is now Hongdu Industry Aviation Group.
