08-15-2017, 04:32 AMAnyone interested in riding with me.. Xining to Chongqing? Sept or Oct 2017
First riding South from Xining then SE into Sichuan, past Kangding and on to Chengdu, then up to Chongers...
I have a dual sport Shineray X2. If you had a similar bike then great, or we could work together for your purchase of one.
If you want to see the stunning scenery on this route and have a VPN, check ot\ut this guy's youtube vid . He actually scateboarded it in three weeks.. So we'd ahve it much better off

08-23-2017, 02:37 AMNo takers for this? I'm currently trying to outside members of the Shanghai insiders group (motorcycle enthusiasts and cj750 tour guides) to come.
Perhaps I should include some pictures..

10-17-2017, 05:51 AMThis blog shows the route Kangding to Yushu in southern Qinghai to be pretty spectalular..

Next year though now as temperatures in winter are minus degrees with 5000m + mountain passes.
I'm looking at tents for the journey. Choice so far is the two person four season Allak from Hilleberg. Top dollar (7-8 k yuan in China) but extremely rugged.

10-17-2017, 05:56 AMI'm also looking at options to improve range in terms of fuel- carrying fuel on the X2.. just gonna get a 5L extra tank to put on the back

X2 has 8L if i remember right. There is also another cheap Shineray Enduro with a big tank. I would say 15L(?).
I imagine by rearranging the coolers maybe worthvyo think about a fit. ....

The X2 was never popular as it is too high for the most riders.
So the sales if aftermarket parts is not interesting

10-18-2017, 01:11 PMYeah, that's what all Chinese observers of the bike say.. How tall it is.. But I wanted a tall bike with ground clearance for the plans that haven't (yet) been realised.
I think I mentioned before about developing after market tanks. My friend who is in manufacturing says plastic moulding is expensive etc. Didn't you mention, shuben , taking another model's tank?

It's really hard to swap tanks from other bikes. Finding the right spacing in all the critical areas is almost impossible. If the tank touches in the wrong place it will wear through. If you're lucky, that means a leak, if you're unlucky, it blows up.
I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a tent. You can find a decent 3-4 season tent for less than 3000 yuan easily. Crashes happen, and tents get ground up during crashes. Seen it happen more than once. Also seen people lose camping gear to theft or falling off the bike.
