I put Grip Puppies (http://www.casporttouring.com/optimi...t/GPSMALL.html) similar to what Felix recommended on all my bikes because my hands are extra large.

The front disk brake is nice a big (around 200mm or more) with a dual caliper system. Bigger the better: plenty of space for it to cool down for when things get hot down there.

I went to collect my plates yesterday but they didn't have them. I got a pissed off but walked out without complaining. If I'm told Monday then I expect Monday but TIC and even western companies have delays. This time I was told "Thursday". If they aren't there on Thursday then I'm going to get angry with them. I paid the money for the plates when they put the bike together. They'd better do as they promised.

Ooh, i bet you're itching to get plated and put some miles on your beautiful new bike. A real sucker punch being told to wait a few extra days! It'll only serve to make it all the sweeter when they arrive tho.


I wouldn't worry, they'll get your plates. They'll just be in no rush cos you've aready paid them.

I do hope they hurry cos i want to read more about your bike. (I bet yours doesn't leak cooling fluid after 300km's like mine )

I am indeed itching to get it plated Dewsnap. ZMC888 said he'd come with me on Thursday just to make sure that they keep their word this time. He has a way with Chinese words when he gets annoyed .
Your cooling fluid problem annoys me. After spending so much money on designing and making a bike like yours they were still ready to cut corners on a little pipe seal . It reminds me of my JD150-15 (but your Raptor is far less disappointing).

I had half and hour free before work yesterday afternoon and took the YBR out to a big road north of the city. I waited for a chance to get a big stretch of clear open road and then did my first speed test .
I got it into up to 120kph and the RPM dial still read below 7000 . That was fun. I've never been over 100kph on two wheels before.
Even at 120kph it felt like the bike had a fair bit more power to offer. I will find an even better stretch of road in the future where I can do another safe speed test. Predictions on top speed anyone?

ZMC888 and I took the bikes out for a quick late night spin on Monday evening. We rode down to an overhead road bypass with some loopy connecting roads. We did some figure of eight style riding for a while and plenty of traffic dodging there and back. The YBR takes corners beautifully and I am eager to get it up on some mountain roads sometime soon.
From the beginning of the ride, the noise from ZMC888's Raptor's engine overwhelmed the sound of mine as soon as he started it up at. For the entire duration of the evening the only thing that I could hear was his 250cc twin carburetor. At one point I was about fifteen meters behind him and could only just hear my own engine. He calls the YBR 250 'The silent avenger' . I like that name.
Despite it's subtlety I was still able to feel the engine and knew exactly what revs I was doing the whole time. I was also able to keep up with him easily. We haven't put the bikes to the test yet but, at one point, ZMC888 mentioned that the YBR might be a bit quicker than the Raptor.

I'd love to know more about the mods ZMC has done to his Raptor. Wondering if he rebuilt the exhaust, air intake, and rejetted his carburetor. I believe the Raptor puts out about 20 HP stock compared to your 21. With the monoshock, your bike should be a lot lighter too.

I made my exhaust straight-through with baffles so that at idle the bike is moderately quiet, but when you gun it she screams a bit. I put on a clip-on air filter on the carb, but reading the plugs I found that I wasn't too lean, so I didn't try to re-jet.

Regal Raptor 234.4cc twin engine probably rates between 12KW (17hp) and 14KW (18.5hp). Whereas the YBR is 15.5KW (21hp). Also The Yamaha puts out 20.70Nm torque but the Raptor 17-19Nm. As well as this we think our raptors are about 150-160KG wet whereas the YBR is 138KG wet. The Raptor has cruiser tires copied from the Honda Rebel CMX250, whereas the Yamaha has 17 inch tires front and rear.

This means all things being equal the YBR WILL absolutely be quicker through all the power-bands, quicker around the corners, stop quicker, be more reliable and fuel efficient.

I don't begrudge this as at the time my bike was less than 40% the cost of his new. I will say that if you pay over 15,000RMB for a Regal Raptor 250 you need your head examining. Just save up longer and get a YBR250.

Can you post some pics of your exhaust when you have a chance? Very interested to see what you've done there. Did you take out the catalytic converter section near the manifold?

Thinking the YBR makes more sense these days in terms of money also. I'd be happily inclined to start modding the heck out of it though. Also wondering about improvements in horsepower over the DD250G Raptor with the watercooled EFI version (if any).
