[QUOTE=Lain;52911]I appreciate the direct feedback, certainly the issue of bike prices is a common sense matter as it is almost a requirement that ANYTHING not made in China will cost more than it does in the country where its made...got several pairs of Levis jeans on a trip back to the US last December, only 135rmb in the US...700rmb in China...the wife was pleased.
your right! things of quality are much cheaper in the states. I was there around new year's and bought three types of riding boots at the BMW dealer which he gave deals, the genuine stuff, as compared to Guangzhou prices and quality if'y...at best. I also picked up at genuine KTM jacket for 200 usd as compared to Guangzhou..probably knock-off for 160........when i say Guangzhou, im talking about the 'wholesale' motorcycle market....( i can give address if anyone is interested).
all the Benelli looks 'hot'...i saw at the Canton fair...i would recommend a visit there if you are a moto nut and thinking of buying a chinese bikes...as thats all that they have...some models are export only though

Yes, the Benelli I saw was super nice. Had me fooled as I drove by the shop on my scooter, thought for a second it was a Ducati. It was a nice 600cc model and the laoban gave me a first offer price of 42,500 rmb (my wife was not amused) but I said that there is room to negotiate..hehe
I am not a bike nut yet, well MTB bikes yes...but I am dead set on getting a bike before this summer, for the places I wish to go see it seems more fun and even practical to me. I often order stuff from Amazon in the US and have it shipped here with my business stuff, like M&M's darn if those things are like 10 more expensive in China, you'd think the candy coating was freek'n gold or something. And dont even get me started on the prices for quality coffee. I buy 2kilo whole beans and even with the cost of shipping here, its still less...and tastes better!
I would like the address to the market in Guangzhou as I am there virtually every month..its a 25 minute fast train ride for me. However if its ONLY filled with junk and crappy fakes let me know....if there's some good stuff to be seen, cant hurt to check it out.我曾参观过的所有地方,地球仍然拥有最好的爆米花。

I went to advanced search and typed "guangzhou market". The third thread was this one . In the two that came before it, the second post is me pointing people to that thread. Last post has a google maps link.
There are a few export only motorcycle shops in the market, it is mostly hard parts and accessories. There's a small market on the west side of Zengcha Rd, and the larger market on the East side of Zengcha Rd. Tons upon tons of absolute garbage, but there are also nice things tucked away in some of the shops. You need a minimum of 6 hours to walk through the whole thing if you want to discover the good stuff.
If you're looking for motorcycles in Guangdong, as I've already mentioned, Jiangmen has the largest inventory.
Cheers!
