#1 What is it....details please!05-07-2009, 01:04 PM
Hopefully I have posted this under the correct section of the forums! My friend purchased a 230cc OHV (pushrod) engine from CCM motorcycles, it is believed that The CCM badged 2009 engines are now OHC motors, does any one know who the maker is of these? different forums I have read have conflicting info, some 'posters' say its 6 speed when in fact its only 5, others have even said its a direct copy of the CRF Honda 230, but the CRF is definately a OHC(as I own one!).
Any help and info would be very much appreciated, especially to this engines reliability.
He is in the process of slotting it into a Honda XR250 chassis, and I am interested in replacing my XLR125 Honda engine with one of these beauties!
Many thanks in anticipation.

05-07-2009, 07:30 PMI think that engine is made by LONCIN. They're probably the largest maker of engines in China and good enough for BMW to entrust to them the making of the engine for the BMW G650 X shown on the photo:

Skyteam Dax replica ST110-6
Zongshen ZS125-43

05-08-2009, 05:53 PMHi all. Len here from Cape Town, South Africa. Yes that looks like it might well be a Loncin engine.
I bought the Loncin 250PY december last year and use it every day, good fun and no real problems apart from a small oil leak.
The dealer will sort it out as soon as I take it to him.
Anyway, before I bought it, I looked at all the Chinese bikes in detail before deciding on Loncin.
That engine does look like a LoncinLast edited by Lenr; 05-08-2009 at 05:56 PM. Reason: blackberry keyboard =typing errors

05-14-2009, 06:40 AMHi CrazyCarl,
Thanks for the welcome.
Will definitely take some pics this weekend and upload them.
Ps. I actually do want to start a new thread about putting a smaller back sprocket on my bike,
just for an additional 20 km p/h or so.
The bike has more than enough torque, but being a scrambler,
and only having 5 gears, the top end is limited to about
110km flat out. That's a bit of a pain on highways.
Any idea on which members would have knowledge on this,
Speak soon

THe Zongshen 250 has a 230cc engine, whether it is made by Zongshen or by Loncin for them I am not sure.
Without consciousness, space and time are nothing; in reality you can take any time -- whether past or future -− as your new frame of reference. Death is a reboot that leads to all potentialities.
