Jape,
Quatrophenia... I still got my Mod outfit but grew out of it twice meanwhile I guess. We were using fox-tails in Germany...real one if you were a countryside boy like me hahaha... Didn't make many miles on the JH600 so far. Just some trips in the area of Fuzhou, where I sometimes work. I ride a lot in other places and wish to find some time to do more riding in China soon.

Yes Felix,
this would be cool. Imagine, a JH600 in a real adventure bike setup like a Yamaha XT (but lighter) or a BMW Xchallenge based Adventure bike or a single-cylinder KTM adventure bike (both not existing ex factory). Our world surely needs a light weight adventure bike thumper. I wonder why the motorcycle industry does not see the potential here and only goes bigger and heavier and more powerful.
We will not get close to something like that with the JH600 but it still is a lot of fun doing the changes and seeing, that riding and traveling gets even better. Let's see, if Jialing is coming up with some ideas in our direction.
Hope you will continue to enjoy this report. Greetings,
AW.

Like-wise I been flowwing this thread, and the other on the JH600 with lots of interest. Really like the way that this JH600 is shaping up, though I did like the addition/change of the front guard to the higher position. Such a simple change cosmetically altered to the look entirely.
I too hope like anything that Jialing would follow this thread, and perhaps take some cues to make some changes being adopted within. Perhaps Franki could pitch this when he next contacts Jialing officianados :) and talk them through the changes/additions/alterations being made.
Pfeazler what are you up to for the May holiday? Fuzhou isn't that far from Ningbo, so if you have some time... from May 1st, then... :D

Hi bikerdoc,
Thanks for the invitation. May 1st I planned a trip on my R80GS to the Alsace Lorraine area (France). But business finally does not bring me there this time so I was thinking Korea... Anyway, things change all the time so don't be surprised if I come back to you on this one.
Cheers, AW.
BTW: The top fender isn't completely out of the picture. I finally got the new wheels done in Germany 21' front, now put some Heidenau K60s on those and ship all to China. Once the wheels are at my garage, then we will see how to proceed.

Hi,
got news from the factory - the bike is ready to be picked up. I will go there (Zhejiang Province) on Tuesday and ride it back to my garage in Fuzhou. I got a small pic, first glance:
I like it a lot. Windscreen and mirror still missing. You will see more pictures once back in Fuzhou. Modifications are by far not finished yet. A lot more good stuff is still to come.
Looking forward for the ride.
HAPPY EASTER!!!
AW.

I hope you have a GPS tracker included in all your accessories, that is a good looking bike and some tea-leaf will take a fancy to it.

Dear AW,
Looking sweeter and sweeter by the day! Can't wait to get mine, hopefully this month in Chongqing.
I don't remember you mentioning the center stand. Was that stock, or a mod?
Also, did you go for the 2008 model or the 2009, which Jialing claim is substantially different to the earlier models?
Very much envy the ride you'll be making from Zhejiang to Fujian. Have you plotted a route yet? Fujian seems to have tons of rural twisties!
Would love to get you on the phone to discuss further, if your schedule permits. I'll PM you my contacts.
cheers,
Jeff in Shanghai

Hello Jeff,
I have plotted the route already and yes, its going to be very twisty. The chart says 569km so I am not sure if I will make it in one day - not going to rush it. I'll take some photos and if they are good then you will see them later. My bike is a 2009 european model. I'm not sure about the difference to the 2008 models - Franki is the specialist here. The alu-plate on the center stand is not stock. It came together with the engine guard and engine crash bars, which the factory in Zhejiang made for me - as well as the luggage system. I'll post more about these parts once the bike is back in my garage.
Don't worry too much on the new bike and modifications. The JH600 is a decent bike already in stock set-up. Most of my mods here are for fun and you can decide over the time if you need or like some of them or not. What really improves the bike is the modified exhaust system and - at least for my feeling, the suspension. I guess, once I have found out the configuration of the original springs in the front and then changed them to progressive springs, this will give the bike another real improvement.
Keep in touch. Looking forward to see pictures of your new ride soon.
AW.

AW has bought the bike in 2009 and is the same as 2008. The newer 'improved' model came out in Nov. 2009 and the changes are minor. It has been listed in my JH600 thread. The only big 'improvement' is the optional plastic penniers. It may look good to some riders but I have seen the test model and they are just too flimsy for serious long distance touring in China. The alu pennier AW has got is the best there is available in China.
