08-18-2010, 11:45 PMHi
I have a pulse adrenaline 125 and when I'm riding my bike in the traffic, the oil temperature climb to 95-100ºC. I installed a oil temperature sensor, so I know the oil temperature at every moment, at least, a estimated temperature.
So I decided to mount a oil cooler (bought in taobao.com), but I want to install a thermostat too, because I think it is a usefull piece.
I read in the manual and it says that the oil temperature must around 60 ºC, but I think that value is too low.
What do you think? anyone knows if that temperature is the most recommended?
There is some photos of the oil cooler.
cheers

08-19-2010, 01:54 AMVery much agree that a oil temperature gauge is essential, and only wish I had one on my Jialing, which has only a warning light that presumably goes on when the temperature is too high. But how high is too high, and what is normal running temperature? I won't know till I find a way to do this.
In other words, I'm in the market for such a gauge too.
thanks in advance.jkp

euphonius I just bought this one http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...id=p2759.l1259
It is small and very easy to fit!
The brazilian manual of the STX 200 says that the oil temperature must be around 60ºC. However I searched the internet, and found lots of threads telling that the oil temperature of a bike must be on the 80-90ºC range. Some guys say that 80º C is the minimal temperature to a engine work safely and properly.
I know that the highest temperature that don't cause damage to the engine is the best, because the engines works better in higher temperature. That's why I doubt from the 60º C, it seems to low for me, but I'm not a specialist.
Should I trust in the brazilian manual?
I need to know the right temperature to buy a thermostat. I have to know from what temperature I want it fully open to let the oil flows through the oil cooler.
Another thing, the bike without a oil cooler, even run out of town at 60-70 km/h raises the temperature to 70-75º C. I think that any pulse adrenaline that test the temperature will not show values near 60ºC.
thank you

08-19-2010, 03:14 PMI wish I could be of help with this, but I have really no idea what the ideal running temperature would be for your Pulse. But you are right: 60C does seem low. Looks like a pretty good temperature gauge you've found. I'll be looking around for something similar, starting here in China.
cheers!jkp
