JH600 - Wet and Muddy in Fujian

Hi,

back again for the last and very different part of this ride. It was a sunny morning, when we left the hotel. Guided by the GPS we made our way north/east towards the coast. The size of chinese cities is always amazing. 35km after leaving the hotel, we were still in the city jungle.

The coastal areas are mostly occupied with cities, villages and industrial parks. Not really too much "untouched" nature. Anyway, there is the chance to get to beaches or close to the water without ending up at a factory.










We rode out on a sea-dam to get away from busy areas and houses. We got close to the water for the first time and took a rest in the sun.

It wasn't for long until we got some visitors. Two young guys on a scooter came along to check out, what we were doing here. "Aaah, for play..." they finally concluded. Then came the usual look and testing of all switches and movable parts on my JH600. "Oah... Jialing, liu bai si si..." Then they went off... Sorry, no pictures. I have to improve here.









Since we were not too far away from the Fuzhou airport, we decided to go there for lunch. This picture was taken right at the restaurant... A good chance to see the really fully loaded JH600.



Then we finally got some beaches and nice little coastal trails. Since we had to leave back to Hong Kong that night and we knew we had to take a ferry across the Minjiang river, we didn't stop often to be back on time.



We decided to come and explore those beaches on our next ride.









When we entered the next town, there was a quite unusual sight... especially riding with an umbrella...



This town featured a nice "historical" section.















Getting back to the north shores of the river and to Lianjiang, my garage location, we had to cross the river by taking a bridge to Hujiang Island and the ferry from there to the north shore.





Quite busy on the ferry but all went much easier than expected. 6RMB for the ride.





It was a fun ride - nice contacts with locals including this one...



She was a bit shy, opening and closing the mirrored window, the third time I had the camera ready... We all had some nice smiles...



Some problem on my GPS - you can see the off-set. I had it corrected recently in Shanghai, but later I updated my Europe map online - the off-set correction for China disappeared with that. I need to take more care next time. Surely I will get the correction back with some efforts.
