Are you going to keep the stock turn signals or use the ones in your new heal light assemble?

I'm a qualified electronics tech but I can never remember all this stuff! Many wiring looms use different colours so unless you have meters, the electrical diagram and can work back, best thing I find is to make a very simple test wire or two and try the most obvious connections out, writing down what you did. You can connect directly from the bike to the new headlamp, most you could do is blow a fuse ... it is what I would be doing, not that I am sure what you are doing?

Vince - I am keeping the stock turn signals, and I am going to wire the built in ones, to be simple running lights. Not sure if i'll use the yellow bulbs or put clear ones in. I was thinking I could wire those to the stock smaller bulb wire that is the one at the bottom of your light. Not sure is that a high beem or possible low beem maybe? I haven't even got my battery charged up yet, so I am sure. can you fill me in on what that bottom bulb is? Thanks
Andrew

Andrew,
Speaking of the service manual, how is the scan coming or better yet does your dealer have another hard copy to sell? If so could you PM me his phone number? I prefer a hardcopy, old school.
I think I am just going to add some led lights to the existing headlight fairing.
There was a discussion somewhere about the bottom bulb being a running light that is required in some countries unlike the USA which requires headlight to be on all the time the bike is running.
Nine month old daughter? Congrats.
When I wired up my replacement tail light/turn signals I was able to get a proper plug at a bike junk yard to match the stock Qlink one so I didn't have to cut the stock wiring harness.Vince

Thanks Vince - I can see if my q-dealer can get me another (Becuase he is a friend) my cost is dealer cost $20 I'll see what ican do for ya. Tell me about that little bulb on your stock headlight. Is that on all the time or high / low beem? I am thinking of wiring my built in turn signals to those wires, so they are simple running lights. Still in Florida? if so plz send sun up here as it is snowing right now and we have about 24+" on the ground now - lol

The XF200 User's Manual has a wiring diagram in the back that is good but needs a magnifying glass for me to read it.
There is a switch on the right (throttle) side called the Lighting Switch that turns on the little light below the head light called the Front Position Lamp (12V5W) and also turns on the lights for the instruments. A brown wire goes to the Front Position Lamp that you could use to power your new head lamp's turn signals for running lights. I would leave them orange to show up better.
Still in Florida until mid May or so. Been kinda chilly here but no white stuff. Motorcycle riding is much better in the North Carolina mountains than flat Florida but at least we can still ride here in the winter.
A test video I shot with my $22 camera the other day riding my Qlink XF200. Ignore the date. It came with the handle bar mount and a dash mount for your car.
