I have a quickquestion for you. It looks like you've had the bike for about 8 months now. I am curious how it has been for you? I had two Chinese bikes and both were great for the price. But the 400 cc really interests me. Are you still happy with it? Does it cruise over 140 KM. Also in my area around San Fernando there are some great routes across the Andes into Argentina. You are welcome to join us anytime you want. Thank you for your time.

So, a big welcome to you, and please tell us a bit about yourself, your previous sub-400 rides and what you are doing in San Fernando.

Hey - Can say that I have not used the bike a lot - it has been sitting in the car park; sometimes for months!! Why? well driving in Santiago is not much fun and I rarely need to use it. I will say that the bike starts fine after sitting there for ages, it does take some time to get warm because its water cooled but five minutes with the choke and all is ok. I feel the chain may be a bit loose, but this is normal. The top speed is about 130km/h and this is pushing it. If you want to do long highway rides you would need to change the gearing. I like the gearing as is is now because it really jumps out of traffic lights and goes up steep hills very easily. For highways I would decrease the size of the rear sprocket - it's very big! The other thing for the highway is that the seat is not very comfortable after an hour your backside starts aching. Overall I am very happy with the XY400 its beautiful on the dirt tracks in the mountains, and super quick and agile in the city. for 1.5 million pesos, a real bargain. Thanks for the invitation Andes man I would love to link up and go for a ride out!

The last week i bought an used XY400Y-2 with 4700 km, drove 500km to get home with my treassure, then i dissasembly, ajust the valve slash, fix a leak in the thermostat body, dissasembly the rear link and grease the bearings, change the oil and filter, use an xr250 oil filter, replace a few bolts and nuts, lube the chain, etc.

When i examine the air filter, i discover that is paper type, any info on a foam oil air filter?

    Dear Perro Suelto,

Greetings from Shanghai, and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your new bike, and I have to say I'm amazed by your confidence with wrenching her! I wish I had the nerve to disassemble and reassemble a bike.

Yours is actually a rare bird. I've not heard of anyone in China who has this model, though as you'll have seen from this thread there are at least two or three members who have purchased them, apparently in Chile. Are you also somewhere in Latin America? I do think you can get answers from Chilexy, Andes Man or Seba, and maybe others.

good luck and please feel free to file some illustrated ride reports when you can. Even some details about your 500km ride home from wherever you bought it. We in MCM love to read about how members are using (and abusing) their china bikes!

    Again, welcome!

    cheers

    Hi Snr Stray Dog

Very interested in what you have done to your Loncin 230 - just got my CCM version and have done a few mods ( rear shock , tyres , handguards, front sprocket etc) but always interested in what others have done and how they have got on with the bike
