Keep us posted, Bob. I'm keen to have a look at Wuhan -- China's industrial crossroads -- and I've heard a lot of good things about the life there, with the major caveats of the pollution and witheringly humid summer heat. You may find you like it there.

    cheers

Yeah, I have heard those stories. Some of my friends visit annually Thailand and one my friend is going to marry one "back-rider" soon, I think. She has been 1/2 year in Finland and is coming again this summer. I reserved the rights to be a wedding photographer.

The said woman has invited me many times to Thailand too but since I like more riding than flying I said if I come I do it with my Skyteam. She said I can't do that, which made me think I should show her "you were wrong".

Will just need to win in lottery first.

    Dear Moilami,

Now that's a nice motorcycling challenge: Finland-Russia-Kazakhstan-China-Laos-Thailand. Geographically, no reason it can't be done. Geopologically -- that's another story, particularly that passage across China. Would require a bit of advance permitting.

    When do you start?

    cheers!

Heh, will have to finish my engi degree first.

I by the way checked the route from Google maps and it told me there is no route, which I found very amusing and almost offending

Thought about going through Pakistan and Afghanistan, but yes, China is a possibility too. If there is no route then one needs to find a route. If it means riding through China so be it :)

    Would be one helluva trip.

    Hi Bob,

I am a Canadian working in China since 2004, I've been the last 5 years in Wuhan. I worked mostly in automotive manufacturing as egineering manager as more recently plant manager and GM.

Last year I bought a used KTM450exc in China (in neighboring province), I have it here in Wuhan. Did you get a dirt/enduro bike yet ? It would be great to catch up .. hopefully you are still in Wuhan. I am in Hanyang district (place called Golden Harbour)

    All the best
