03-09-2011, 03:35 PMIf anyone would know, ZMC888 would know. Asiawing is up in Shandong. Five hundred cc sounds big for air cooling, but my first two VWs were air-cooled 1600cc pancake engines, as were the old Porsches for that matter. Funny, my veedubs (1968 and 1971 Typ 3 squarebacks) both had Bosch electronic fuel injection, but still had mechanical spark (distributor) and no radiator. Both got 42mpg aka 5.6l/100km.
Which is to say, I have no idea about the Asiawing Spark500. But I suspect someone will.

My Buddy's BMW is an air cooled 750 so I guess the 500cc would be ok. Looking into another Bike Barnone

Like other Chinese companies seems like a ghost bike, there is sometimes a prototype, but the rest is just a photoshop dream (see the way the light hits the bike in the photo on their website?). Unless someone steps in and gives them an order for 1000 bikes that haven't been R&Dd and probably haven't passed any tests including emission tests, that is all it will ever be.
A bit like a Chinese shop with almost no stock, the owner fearing that he/she might not be able to sell the stock and maybe lose money, and not wanting to lose money by investing. The money goes on the the Neon sign and Baijiu lunches. But if customers come to your shop surely you need some products????Without consciousness, space and time are nothing; in reality you can take any time -- whether past or future -− as your new frame of reference. Death is a reboot that leads to all potentialities.

Asiawing have been discussed here on these hallowed threads for a few years. Asiawing were supposed to come (back) to the US, but like ZCM888 said--someone needed to order a whole bunch. One of the China-based members here on MCM did ride the Spark prototype a few years ago (look it up under search) in China, and there were videos and a thread.
Asiawing did import a few 250 enduros in the early 2000's to the US--one of the first 250 Chinese enduros available in the US until the HiBird GY250; an outfit out of Orange County, California had them--they were marketed under the Odes brand name. There was a 250cc sport tourer and 300cc sport tourer, too, sold as Odes bikes. That was about it--they probably contributed to the negative connotation of Chinese bikes. In fact, the same guy who toured Asiawing showed pictures of some leftover 250 enduros that they were trying to get rid of a few years back in China--those were the same bikes they had here.
I used to correspond with the head honcho of Asiawing when they were supposed to come to the US. He invited me to meet him at the 2010 Indy show (he had tickets for me), and I told Carl to find him, but I don't think Carl spoke with him there.
