Be careful, that 'restrictor' may be the opposite to what you think, some of those things act as venturi by design and that in fact SPEEDS UP the air intake. So if you take it out, don't break it and be prepared to put it back after frustrating weeks of fiddling with jets and carbie and never getting any improvement ....

03-20-2011, 06:47 PMIt will speed up the air intake as it restricts the area available for the air to flow through but it looks like its there for air intake silencing , not a snorkel or anything like . Will take it out and see what happens , FWIW I am "mature" and have owned over 80 bikes so do have a vague idea of what I'm doing !

Well I am glad for you then, you can teach us as you go with a photo buildalong.
Obviously if people don't put in their signature 'experienced, eighty bikes, vague idea' or 'newbie please help!' then we have to talk generally and offer what we do or do not know as help. These threads are not just for the original poster although of course that is the purpose immediately; over time they add up to a body of pertinent (and some times irrelevant but amusing) anecdote and experience for all who own or use these machines. Sometimes we even get people all over the planet acknowledge that it has helped them out when stuck or perplexed.Kinlon R/T KBR JL200GY-2

04-02-2011, 09:14 PMOk , short of time today but took the "restrictor" out of the airbox intake and fitted a 120 main jet - up from a 104 (!) - seems to run better now , not so sensitive to choke but only around the garden - will get it out on the road tomorrow and report back on its new rip snorting performance - or not !
Not expecting fantastic gains but bike was running very weak as standard , white plug and needing lots of use of the choke for the first couple of miles . Got a 115 ex Honda keihn jet to try if too rich but seems fine so far .........inlet2.jpginlet.jpg Spot the difference !!

04-03-2011, 09:55 AMOK been out today and bike is SO much better - difficult to be sure if its really much more power but the bike feels loads stronger and pulls better all through the revs . With a bit of a tweak of the pilot screw a 120 main jet seems about right , might go down to a 115 later but will get a few more miles on it first . Overall very pleased and a "must do" mod if you have a CCM230 or Loncin LX250 with the intake restrictor fitted .
Will post in maintenance/tuning for completeness too .

04-24-2011, 02:32 PMQuick update , bike definitely goes much better with the mods. - will now pick up the front wheel just with a tweak of the throttle , wouldnt do that before . Was out yesterday on some trails and when we stopped for fuel I had done 90 miles but only got 3.5litres in before it was full !
Getting to enjoy this bike , off road its quick enough to surprise my frinds with their 600s and a 350 but still a bit slow on the road , have only done about 800km so still taking things gently .
