Finely got my bike today!
Nearly 30 days later... Now to see how slow countyimports will take to get me the MSO
I took some pics after I ripped the cardboard off, and no it wasn't wrapped up like countyimports claims it will come...
Everything is in tact except the front fender looks to be crooked and the rear disc for the bake looks to be warped but I wont really know until I put the bike on a crate and spin the rear tire a bit. All in all the bike looks very solid and the frame is thicker then I thought it would be. I'm not a fan of how stretched out I am but I guess I can get used to it, also I will need to adjust the rearsets because it feels like I have to take my foot off the pegs to change a gear or press on the rear brake.
As you can see I have put on some drag bars but there is an issue with this. On the original bars they have holes drilled out on each side for the electrical controls to lock into to prevent moving, this leaves a nub on the controls so I either have to shave off the nub or drill holes in the new handlebars.
barnone:
Did you run into this issue also when changing out your handlebars?
Did you just remove the nubs from the inside of the controls?
Or did you drill holes for them?
I really do not want to drill holes because then I am stuck with that position forever, and If I wind up wanting to move the handlebars lower or whatever I would be shit out of luck, less buying new bars. Also it feels like the seat should be a bit lower and maybe a bit closer, I'll give it some time before I chop off the bracket and relocate the seat though. Maybe with adjusting the rearsets I'll think otherwise.
Tomorrow I will drain the oil and put the 10/40 in and a nice shinny NGK plug, and I still need to put the charger on the battery. I ordered a #100 main jet and a 35 tooth sprocket so they should be here by Wednesday. I still need to order the #50 slow jet but I will need to match it up first.
Time for some pics =)
I will take some hi def video tomorrow for all of you =)
These were taken with my cell phone for the time being.Last edited by Aboshi; 03-28-2011 at 10:43 PM.

looks like you already changed the marker lights as well, man I do miss the bike fir nothing else that today I was home and wanted to go riding LoL
Aboshi, you should be able to adjust the shift and rear brake on them. one of the things I loved was stretch on the bike
Good luck with itGardo northern NJ/NYC

Aboshi,
Looking good in the neighborhood there on the beach.
I drilled holes in both set of bars I tried using the stock bars to locate the holes.
I found the drag bars stretched me too far out but they might be fine for you.
Nothing like a new bike to farkle out.Last edited by barnone; 03-29-2011 at 02:32 PM.

Thanx Gordo, and barnone =)
Yeah its going to take some getting used to because I have rode sport bikes and MX my entire life.
I only hopped on a sportster once and it felt like I was on a couch with 2 wheels =)
I'm stretched out but thats not that bad compared to how the rearsets feel. I am going to try to push them farther forward so my toes can get to them easier.
I'm 5'10 150 lbs and I have a size 12 shoe so I should't have to work that hard for the foot controls. Other then that over 10 people looking into my parking lot already stopped just to look at the bike =) one guy goes didn't I just see that bike in cycle world last month lol. As for the electrical switches with the nubs I think I will just pull out the dremmel and shave them off. I really don't feel like finding my metal bits for the drill (if I still have any). I haven't changed out those cornstalks yet either, I figure I'll do that after I get the bike inspected.
I'll take a lot more pics and some video tomorrow.
barnone:
I'll take some shots off my balcony then you can really see what this beach looks like =)
We also have the Wold Tour (surfing) coming here in Sept. And it will be the first time the World Tour has even come to the east cost! I'm so excited hehe

Aboshi,
The reason that Gardo thinks you changed out the turn signals is because ours were chrome and yours are black. I like the black ones better and they don't stand out as much. I want the old school look with little chrome.
I ordered some bar end turn signals to play around with. I hope I can keep the bar end mirrors also.

As far as being stretched out, you can put some more preload in the seat which should help but the DF is not a sport bike by any means.
So you get some good surf on your beach. We don't get any here on the Gulf unless a hurricane is coming ashore.
Are your fenders and tank flat black? If they that is going to piss me off because I ordered flat black but got glossy black.Vince
