04-14-2011, 04:56 AMHi MCM Community!
My name is Tae and i'm new to the MCM site!
I have a question for attendees of Chinese expo's (basically, people that attends events/expo's in China):
What type of events would you like to see at a motorcycle expo?
More activities or a performance? Do events really matter? Or would attendees be more interested in gift bags and freebies?
- I just need some input and ideas to float around.
Thanks for your opinions@

What would be more important than freebies and other crap would be arranging a single motorcycle show for all of China. It should take place directly before, or after, the Taiwan motorcycle show. The benefit of this would bring buyers from all over the world to Taiwan and China during one week so they could see all the offerings from the entire Chinese motorcycle industry.
The way the motorcycle industry arranges shows all over the country at different times is poorly managed and makes foreign buyers very angry that they waste their time coming to Asia and don't get to see very much.
People don't come for events and gifts...they come to do business and see what the market has to offer.
EICMA, CIMA and the Canton Fair are a total waste of time, you can see more products by wandering through the motorcycle market in Guangzhou. They do have pretty girls though, so that is why I go.
Cheers!

The event in Beijing will be held on July 2nd - July 4th at the exhibition hall in the Olympic Park (Beijing), so it has been upgraded.
When is the date for the Taiwan show?

My opinions ...
1) Attendance would skyrocket if you handed out pretty girls as freebies.
2) Presentations on the future of motorcycles in China ... get some people "in the know" to inform us where we're heading in China with motorcycle restrictions, plating, etc.
3) Fewer displays of potential motorcycles/products (concepts), and put more focus on products that are currently available, or genuinely will be.
4) Knowledgeable exhibitors - it is discouraging to ask questions only to be told to "give me your number, someone will contact you." I don't want to be contacted.
5) Less focus on trying to sell large orders to overseas buyers - at each show, I have felt uncomfortable because I am a foreigner who isn't making a huge factory purchase.
All together, why not ship lots of pretty girls to the motorcycle market in Guangzhou and hold it there? I've heard those guys are knowledgeable, but not very pretty.
By the way, the gift bags are nice, but each time I received one I had to turn over a business card - and my cards don't say "rich foreign buyer of motorcycles"
