#1 Chinese dual sport/supermotard group buy?08-05-2008, 05:57 PM
Maybe if there is enough interest, we could get a container order from China together.. My thinking that these bikes shouldn't cost more than $2000 a piece if bought directly from manufactuer in China, add shipping, custom fees, etc... The website does give info on how many pieces can fill up a container, minimum number of pieces for each model... sort of like a "group-buy"
This bike looks nice, even has turn signals and such:

And a street legal supermotard?

Thoughts anyone?

08-06-2008, 01:03 AMSweet rides there! ...second one reminds me of the Honda CRF250X...
There is another manufacturer that makes dual sport and supermotos and they look pretty good as well. Steel frames instead of aluminum though.
Check em out here: http://www.galaxymotorcycle.net/prod...sid=4&typeid=2
They were impressive at this years Taklimakan Rally (see the racing section for my thread about that)... placing 1st in the 250cc and under class.

Probably much less than 2,000 but you'll need to get enough interest for 50 or so. There are actually quite a few decent "looking" bikes coming out now in the 250 range but I'd caution against buying a whole container of bikes unless at least one knowledgeable person has had a chance to look at them. Also need to check into parts supply availability and available accessories.
Otherwise, the idea is sound. I think a good mix of enduro and supermo would be a great way to go on a private group order.

08-08-2008, 10:52 AMHi cat0020, the two bikes are actually fabricated by other factories, you don't have to order them through www.kaxamotos.com
The brand of blue one is SHINE, which is made by http://www.shinebike.com/ . Light-weight alumnium alloy frame is used to hang a 125-250cc engine from Zongshen or Loncin.
The brand of red motard is MIKILON, you can find them here http://www.mikilon.com/product.asp . Looks pretty beautiful but the alloy-styled frame is made of steel. They also use Zongshen or Loncin engines, YZ or CRF plastics are available.
Personally I perfer SHINE bikes, but they are not YZ or CRF, not for serious motocross action, OK for weekend funduro and beginer's practice.

Cat,
I think ol' Voks there likely runs his engine out harder than most people would a 200cc. He's been tuning the motor for quite some time so it's been experimented on to get the peak performance. Generally, you can get much more than 6,000 miles out of them is ridden in a responsible but "spirited" manner.
