nothing to take a video with unfortunately, and i got the carb and head straight from weaver. i readjusted the valves to spec and torqued the head bolts to 22ft lbs, which is what weaver told me to do. i wish i lived closer to his shop so i could have just had him do it all

Ok so the head should be on right and its all set correct then check your choke cable if the choke is set wrong or the needle is stuck on the spring it would give you that issue as well.
Call Tom in the morning and let him know whats up I will shoot him aq message with the excerpts from the board

i took extra time on the choke cable because the retainer piece the keeps the sleeve from sliding with the cable wasn't holding it in place so i made sure that was correct. for the needle being stuck on the spring, what exactly do you mean?

When I put the top most assembly together i kept getting the cable stuck in the spring (meant cable not needle sorry) and the slide needs to sit in a particular way there is a grooved piece that sits I think facing left. I dont have any picture but i know they were posted a few pages back by either Lewis or Kevin

mk2 - Sounds like the slide is in right, if it wasn't it'd be stuck at full throttle. Have you tried simply giving it a little choke until it warms up?

Really sounds like you have air leak.
Have you sprayed around the carb and head with cleaner yet? Air leaks around the carb will definitely give a funky idle. Spraying the cleaner around the leak will cause the idle to jump up. Then you know what to fix.

    You'll get it man.

Yep I've tried choke, without the throttle cable adjusted so far, where you only have half twist before full throttle, that's the only way it will idle and even then it will die. Haven't tried spraying cleaner yet, but i'll stop by an auto parts store and grab some. Gonna be a long day, wont be off till 6 and this will be bothering me all day.

you really shouldn't have to mess with the throttle cable. Adjust it back to where it has just a hair of slack in it.

The idle is controlled by the screw on the side of the carb. It turns against the angled cutout on the slide, raising and lowering it to get the correct idle speed.
