#2 Re: Academics on motorbikes aka "Devils Diciples" (sic)

Well, my Happy Kitty MC was planning on peddling stinky tofu outta CJ750s on the streets of Beijing, without proper vendor permits (how is that for being bad ass?!?!?!) ... but, naturally, our CJ750s wouldn't start.
Seriously, when I was teaching up north (Harbin), the university admin went ballistic when I showed up one day riding a big, black, noisy motorcycle. It honestly thought I was a 1% biker who might begin raping & pillaging at any moment. It didn't matter that I was a Cambridge fellow ... I rode a motorcycle! "Shutter the windows, barricade the doors, hide the girls!" The admin even complained to my home university for "setting a bad example".
Conversely, when I was teaching in Shanghai, the more progressive admin would fight over who got to have a ride. It kept asking me to come back ... "and don't forget to bring your 哈雷!"
