09-19-2011, 04:02 AMHi,
I've recently bought a small gas scooter (75cc) and I was told that I can't register it (get a legal license plate).
What options do I have? Can I ride it without a plate? Is it considered to be like a electric bike?
Thank you!

Welcome EnvilGT
The rule in Beijing is that any motorcycle requires registration, insurance and a plate. Under 50cc is a blue plate, 50cc and over is a yellow plate. You also need a Chinese driving license for motorcycles.
You cannot change an illegal bike into a legal bike.
You can ride it without a plate and hope that the police don't catch you.
Electric bikes/scooters do not require a driving license, but they do require the little white plate (10 rmb from a local police station).
