#1 zongshen bikes any good???09-24-2011, 03:12 PM
hey guys,
right, well lets cut to the point.
I am looking at a new motorbike (totally legal)(yea a first for me).
the bike i am looking at is the zongshen,,,, umm take a look
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=5631760717
has anyone had any experience with zongshen bikes??? if i could afford one i would get a regal raptor, but finances are limited and while my wife has (conditionally) agreed my new years long trip, one of the conditions is i get a bike that wont break down every 300km and need new parts.
another one is that i stick to the speed limits and dont do anything stupid...... but you cant have your cake and eat it.
probably more likely to get something like this http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=12519490334 but in a 200cc engine.
it will have to take a weeks clothes (in a backpack tied to the rear somehow, me, waterproofs, and a spare gallon of fuel.
also once reaching my destination i would like the bike to be good for another 2 years before it has to be 'stolen' (can never be bothered to sell a bike, much better to ride it into the ground, take off the plates and leave it down a dark street for it to go missing. (im crap with paperwork and even worse with the chinese bureaucracy)
anyhow, thanks for anyone who knows anything about the reliability and quality of this bike
happy driving lads and lass's

09-25-2011, 02:23 PMYes, and if you want to know anything about the latest Zongshens, you could do worse than asking Lulu, who's currently riding one for 45 days around China as part of a Zongshen promotion.
As she noted in her latest post, she's in Yangshuo with a few days on her hands. Not sure if she's anywhere near where you are.
And TD is right. There's nothing wrong with these farmer's bikes as a great way to learn how to ride. (But do get a (legal) license!)
good luck.jkp

zongshen likely make good basic engines, but I would consider the reliability of the whole bike. Maybe other sound brand? Qingqi suzuki, Wuyang Honda, etc...
