The best argument I've been given so far is that I'm told I don't want a hardtail. (there have been other things said but I know what to say bout those things; i.e. too small of an engine, its china crap etc...) I've been told sure they look cool but you won't like the harsh ride with out shocks. Now these old dudes seem to know there stuff but it can't be that bad is it? Am I gonna be so sore I won't wanna ride? They never expand on it. They just say I won't like it. All be it this will be my first bike so I have nothing to compare it to so I'm just wondering how hars of ride is it? Do they have a point and I should look for a soft tail may like?
Tumtoe - i have about 5000 miles on my scoot since April, and she handles like a dream. that being said i beefed up the seat suspension with an airbag back in June. Feels like a soft tail to me. I have ridden other bikes and yes the ride is different when you have rear shocks . yes the engine is a 250cc but its also alot of fun. I have done 4 - 6 hrs one way rides on my scoot and she holds pace. NJ/NY isnt exactly known for its smooth roads either. I also wear a kidney belt when I ride
Here's some pics of my scoot tha Widow, if you have more questions also hit us up on Facebook CCW Tha Riders

My opinion a hard tail makes you be a better rider, forces you to pay attention and not zone out I love it.

That's my next helmet, sweet! TumToe it's a great bike for the money, for all the cash I spent on my HD mods I bought an entire bike. Totally different animals but the build quality is quite good and it's a great bike for a beginner, it wont get you into too much trouble. It's a perfect bike to learn on and putt around town, it's basically my back road barhopper. Gardo is a madperson putting all those miles on it and on NJ highways to boot so I consider his bike a good litmus test for longevity, even though it's not old he's put a ton of miles on it. I originally wanted to build an XS650 and pricing it out with me doing the work would be the same price but with thirty year old parts. This bike is the exact vision I had of a bare bones bobber I wanted to build.

As far as the hardtail it's really not bad at all. I stand up a lot over crazy bumps, I wish I had midpegs, it would be easier. I've ridden a few other hardtails that were really harsh but they were big heavy bikes and they seemed to slam hard with all that weight. The Heist is extremely light and manuverable to the point where you can just throw it around and weave around those potholes out there.

I have had my bike for about three weeks. I am a new rider and have been tooling around town to learn. Yesterday I decide to take her into work, a 25+ mile ride into downtown LA on city streets which are atrocious her in CA, (on permit so no freeway yet). The ride in was fine, I did feel a little stiff on arrival. The ride home was brutal, my was screaming on arrival home. Today I wanted to ride again, but I knew what I was in for, I did it anyway and again my bum/tailbone is begging for mercy. The ride back home is going to be long. It zapped the fun out of it for me.

With that said I will be looking into what mods I can do to make it more comfortable. I am aware of the airbag mod and will be looking at what kind of cushioning I can get into the seat. All while trying to do inexpensively. I WILL not stop riding her however because she is an extremely fun ride. I live her to death. She is beautiful and peppy bibget cmpliments, thumbs up, questions all the time, while riding and when parked.

    Hope this gives another perspective.

Guys its a hardtail a kidney belt goes a long way. Its the only way to ride at long distances
This is what i where under my riding vest or shirt Brace great adjustable fit and no issues when I get off the bike. Think of it this way a hardtail rattles loose the bike which is why we chelck it before riding, think what it does to your insides. A kidney belt will keep you healthy and riding happy

Gardo - where did you get your fork bag? A dealer by me carries them - but they're too big. I'll need to order online.
