02-06-2012, 02:18 AMHey guys
I'm looking to buy a dual sport bike for a trip around parts of China. I had seen some posts before on the Shineray 200GY-7 and thought it looked pretty good, especially with the large gas tank, however I can't find it on their website anymore. I emailed and they haven't gotten back to me, anyone know is it still available? Otherwise what reccomendations do you have? I'm looking for something with a good size tank, good off-road, and able to carry luggage. I'll have panneirs on both sides but can always get something welded so long as the frame can support it.
Do most people here order direct from the factory or buy from local dealers? General pricing info would be helpful too if you've got it!
Thanks

02-06-2012, 06:08 AMYeah totally. I forgot to mention that I'm looking to buy something Chinese and from a dealer as I've heard that is going to be the easiest way for me to get the bike properly registered. If this wasn't the case I might look for something like what you mentioned second hand. But right now I'm definitely looking for a Chinese brand and probably new.

02-06-2012, 11:11 AMYeah that thing looks pretty sick, massive gas tank!
How do you mean from Tao Bao? Is that a person or a company? I searched it but didn't find much.
Thanks

taobao.com is similar to fleabay. There's some store from Chongqing assembly bike to customer's order.
This type http://detail.china.alibaba.com/buye...953197808.html -- ANY roadside mechanic stocks parts while the "dual" may need waiting parts from nearest big city . http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/showthread.php?3333 had a guy on that type of bike. This type is big enough for a N chinese /avg Westerner feel comfortable to ride.

humanbeing is quite correct about the parts situation
its good to have a common bike
so far i have been lucky in that the only thing i have needed was a chain
which broke at a very inopportune moment

02-10-2012, 02:39 AMThanks Zhu and Humanbeing for those replies!! That was exactly what I was looking for! I felt like I was probably missing out on some amazing, super-secret direct link to Chinese manufacturers and thier supply of awesome and cheap bikes due to my inability to read Chinese! Those are perfect and something like that was exactly what I had in mind. I'm going to find someone that will be able to read a bit of this for me and then I'll try to make contact and begin the ordering process.
Thanks again, that link was perfect, I'll keep up to date on how the process goes.
