01-24-2013, 02:02 PMHi all,
I thought I would go on line to the Shandong traffic dept. in Weifang.
When I put in my "ID" number which is actually the letter "F" followed by my passport number of 8 digits, then I put in my driving license number, nothing happens : :(
Is it only Chinese nationals with the 18 digit Chinese ID card that can use that service on line?
Gra.

No idea how Shandong works, but in Beijing I think you just need your plate number and engine number to check the online system.
It shows you any violations on the vehicle (e.g,. by camera). Come to think of it, I am not sure what happens (re points) if the registered owner doesn't have a driving license.

01-24-2013, 03:13 PMSomebody in Shanghai -- TB-Racing maybe? -- posted a link a few months ago to a Shanghai government site in Chinese where you could key in your VIN and other data and find out your penalty points status. Anyone remember the link or where to find it? I've searched in vain.

01-25-2013, 11:48 AMThanks Humanbeing,
That's the same site my wife found for me.
However when I put my ID number in, which is the letter "F" and my passport number, then follow in the next box with my licence number 3707**** etc,
When I press go, it comes back not working.
Any way, as luck would have it, Fay was going to the traffic department today, to also start to register for driving.
So we asked the girl, behind the desk, who very kindly just checked every thing for us, on my license.
So there is a way, but I think she scanned the bar code on the rear of the license.
Rather academic really, as I haven't even ridden, or drove any where,
Gra,

penalties are all times related to the vehicle that violates the rules. someone must take the points on its DL to keep the vehicle licence valid. thats why you can find other people which take your points for paying them. Anyway on the Beijing website you also can check DL related information. I will check if it works with a laowais chinese DL.
