02-05-2013, 02:28 AMHi guys!
I'm on the market for a new bike, so, as I live in Guangzhou, are there any shops that you know, or you just buy your bikes in taobao?
I would really appreciate your advice for a bike, I would prefer a 125cc dirt bike.
Back home I have a KX125, so which one would be closer to my bike on the Chinese side?
As so many of you are riding and have experience with Chinese bikes, I would really like to hear your opinions..
Thanks a lot!

Doesn't GZ have a motorcycle ban in place? Anyway look up XTR250 using the MCM search engine, and via Taobao.

02-05-2013, 03:24 AMThanks for the reply bikerdoc.
I would not use the bike for road drive nor I want to get a plate for it.
Nearby my place have lots of mountains and dirt trails, as I don't live really in Guangzhou city center.
The XTR250 looks good but I would like something less powerful, like a 125 or 150cc.
Could you guys let me know which taobao shops would you recommend? That's crazy how can you find bikes from 1500rmb to 12000rmb.
Just need a little guiding here!!
Thanks and good rides!

Jialing (JL bought the XL125S old tooling ... from Honda in 90s) cabbage is the ancestor of dirt bike in China.
There's many assembler in Chongqing. One of decent one: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=5340731684

02-05-2013, 09:07 AMThanks humanbeing!
Have you ever bought on this shop you gave me?
I usually buy stuff in taobao, but a bike never, that's why I'm cautious about it.
As regarding transportation, wouldn't it be unsafe coming from chongqing to Guangzhou?

02-05-2013, 09:31 AMAnd remember when we say "Cheap as Chips"
in China we say "Cheap as Cabbage"
So this is a cabbage bike.

02-05-2013, 10:10 AMGraham, thanks for the tip :)
What dirt bikes do you guys ride on?
My urge to get one is high, but when it comes to cabbages and not bikes I get confused :).

There's nothing from China that can compare to the KX125. I think you will be sorely disappointed with something like the Jialing 150, it's based on 1970's and 80's technology. Low power 4 stroke engine bolted to a flexi steel frame with twin rear shocks and tiny little forks. Not a bad bike for a light trail ride to your favourite swimming hole or a little exploring, but definitely not something made for serious off road abuse. Your best bet is probably going to be a Galaxy XTR250 (they might still make a 150 as well), Galaxy TGR250 also called the YZR 250-A on Taobao, Shineray X2 and there's also the CQR250.
We ride around Zengcheng all the time (thread here). Guangdong has a lot of deeply rutted trails with plenty of rocks, suspension is important and none of the 250's in China are going to be "too much" for you to handle if you've been riding a KX125.
Cheers!

CQR is based on CRF230. Many option in engine's brand... Some assembler IS using the "rubbish" Zhejiang parts !!! http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/view...originator=yes
