I wear a high viz vest when I ride. I noticed a big difference in how drivers responded once I started wearing it.
But the strangest thing started happening. Whenever, I'd be parking my scooter with my helmet on, I'd have multiple people ask me for directions. I found it a bit odd, but I live in China and I'm used to overlooking that which does not make sense.
It was not until a friend made a comment that the vest makes me look like one of the traffic police, that it finally clicked.

I wear a high-viz yellow jacket in the colder months and I'm always surprised at how much more respect I get on the road. Never got asked for directions, but a few people have pulled over to let me pass and I thought it rather strange.
Cheers!

Maybe fix a pipe with blue sirene light at the bike rear fender and then wear a high viz vest with the characters for GongAn / Public Security. They will make space fast :-)

Can't find it now, but I recall reading an online article about a study that was done on motorcyclists' visibility (i.e., being seen).
Helmet color was regarded as most important. What I found quite surprising about the study was the finding that the wild graphics that are on many helmets is the WORST color choice (for safety). The graphics apparently serve like a camouflage. Solid colors were found to be best. Aside from Hi Viz colors, white was the most visible solid, and black the least visible.
White bike, hi viz vest/jacket, and hi viz/white helmet seems to be the way to go.
